Quote of the Day

Does anyone get what the hell talking to Syria and Iran could possibly accomplish?

If the war in Iraq is truly lost, then fine -- it's lost. Then let's get out, but let's keep open the option of attacking the malignant cancer of Iran. Only James Baker could figure out a way to not only lose a war he believes is lost, but compound that loss by furthermore making the appeasement of the world's most dangerous state a further insult to our injury.

Good post.

I think the main issue with keeping the bombing or attacking option open is that it's pretty obvious US forces are stretched to thin for even the current taskload let alone a larger operation than Iraq. The US, in effect, has taken the invasion option off the table by invading Iraq.

There's plenty of airpower before the US leaves Iraq Iran's nuculear facilities should be completely leveled.

It's really sad that the "Iraq prize" is being handed over to Iran. That really is the only justification for keeping U.S. troops there for generations.

Conundrum.

What a disaster. It's people like Baker that helped make the Middle East the cesspool it is. I suppose a diplomat's responsibility is to talk, but diplomacy will always fail when countries have opposing interests. Why isn't that obvious to the people that have failed over and over in the past?

Word.

I'd be happy with quarterly bombings of Teheran. No troops though. Just keep bombing the $hit out of them until they capitulate. That's what a siege is all about, anyways.
