Me, me, me

At some point in the last two years, someone put up a Wikipedia page for me. It's been edited a bunch of times and I always find it pretty amazing that people know certain things about me and take the time to update my page. I have only edited it once- to remove information about my teenage club kid days (which, while mildly interesting because my then-boss is currently serving time for murder, are irrelevant to the overall picture of my life).

Peter informed me today that my Wikipedia page is scheduled for deletion because someone on the site felt I was not 'notable' enough. I mean, honestly, have you ever heard of such a thing? I'm pretty sure I know who it is too, this doofy guy that we had to ban from our poker home game because no one liked him, who is an obsessive Wikipedia user. Anyway, I had no interest in having a Wikipedia page before but now that I may not have one anymore, I want it.

Anyone know what I need to do?

Two birds, one stone; knock off the irritating loser who was banned.

First of all, find something that constitutes a "notable source" where you've been mentioned, i.e. local newspapers-were you ever quoted by any when you worked for Herman Cain-and possibly some of your old substitute blog hosting duties for Michelle Malkin.

I think I mentioned this on the "talk" page related to your article.

The problem is that blogs-as such-are despised by Wiki dorks for some inexplicable reason.

Michelle Malkin though-in her capacity as a journalist, columnist and general pundit-might have enough notoriety.

Actually, it looks like your page hasn't submitted for deletion. Rather, some user (he doesn't give his real name or location on his user page) stuck in a tag that says, essentially, "do a better job establishing this person's notability or face the risk of future deletion". The easiest fix would be for anyone (including you) to just edit the page and remove that tag; this person's opinions don't count any more than anyone else's. Or people could try to establish more notability, as Gerard says, but what's notable is quite subjective.

I know a guy called Guido from Brooklyn who can keep you on Wikipedia. Do you want me to call him?

Accuse wikipedia of liberal bias. Worked on google.

The guy who prodded the page is Joe Grossberg.

Look at his user page.

There's a link to his blog on there.

Gerard:

You're mistaken. The change was made by a different user, "VolatileChemical", after I made a correction to Karol's entry: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Karol_Sheinin&diff=93345571&oldid=92273814

You're also wrong about Wikipedia bias against bloggers. Look at the size of the entries on LGF (and Charles Johnson) and Daily Kos (and Markos Moulitsas Zuniga).

Karol:

Questions about notability are very, very common on Wikipedia, because people can create articles about friends, things they are trying to promote, and other issues where they aren't objective.

Also, editing your own articles is frowned upon.

And I don't think your past should be removed from your bio, because of its current irrelevance.

Should GWB's bio not mention he was once owner of the Texas Rangers?

Anyone know what I need to do?

Something notable.

Posted by: Charles at December 22, 2006 02:37 PM

Joe, you're completely off-base, as usual.

Someone's notability is not subject to dispute simply because he or she is not notable at the present time.

If that were the case, then every article related to a dated film, television program or personality would be subject to deletion.

I suggest that you review Wikipedia policy-which as you yourself admit you're unfamiliar with-before you make baseless assertions.

Which is a shame, because you cannot get into heaven if you have insulted Joe Grossberg.

i suppose that whole "deranged" think on sullivan and malkin would help if it's not already up there...

The tag you use for the next tourney you host should be "No antes. No add-ons. No AxH0L0tLs."

What a jerk.

Anyone know what I need to do?
1. copy and paste it into Notepad or Word.
2. Like Charles said, do something notable...preferably not illegal, but if push comes to shove, do what you gotta do. :)

How can that NZ guy call you an American when you are Russian I thought? I don't get that. You can't have an American outlook unless you are born here in the states.

Also, you shill on this site...boooo!
