Aftermath

Conversation:

My dad: "So, how are you?"
Me: "Great!"
Him: "How are you about the whole Duane Reade thing? Um, mentally?"

I know some of you are wondering too, so I figured I'd let you all know that I'm fine.

Right after it happened, I shook it off too quickly. I was wandering around the store thinking I can still buy my shampoo as the cops were taking statements. "Are you sure they'll let you buy anything? I imagine the staff might be a little shaken up" said my friend SMVP when I called him. I saw he was right, put down the shampoo and just hung around until the cops wanted to talk to me. (SMVP actually has a history of bringing me back down to reality after traumatic events.)

I guess it didn't hit me, really, until the next day. "I had a gun pointed at me!" I exclaimed to Dawn Summers 25-30 times as we played poker. I was actually going to go to that same Duane Reade again afterward, but it was too cold and I had the cab take me straight home to avoid the gale winds.

I'm chalking it up to just one of those things people live through all the time. I know how lucky I was to walk away from this with my health and belongings. It was an experience, I'm ok, and thanks for asking.

Glad you're not too worked up about it still. Do me a favor? Send me an e-mail: morlith at rocketmail dot com. I figure it's easier to chat that way than through the comments on this blog. ;)

I'm glad you're okay with it. Sounds like you shook it off well.

I've been on the wrong side of a gun barrel twice. Both times were in New Haven. Neither time was fun.

Hopefully these guys get caught. Gun point robbery in the UES is ballsy.
Crime is going up it can only fall so far becore it rises and it's rising again.

Glad you are Okay. I will ask my friends at the 19th pct about it.

Take care, Karol, glad you're okay.

Karol,

In my screenplay, you & Mary Katharine Ham open up a serious can of whup-ass to this punk with a series of high leg kicks and budget-slashing karate chops !

By the way, Beckham is coming to America. You gonna write on that ?

The first time it will rattle you. Kind of like an out of body experience. You see the gun and it is pointed at you...you are almost looking at it from the outside. Yet, the odd thing is after a while you will get bored with it. Serious, won't even give you a rush anymore. It will be more of a thing where you say, "Yo, if you are going to blast me then blast me." But I'm glad you are o.k. and it will take some time.

Well, I don't know about anybody else, but ever since I read about some of your all-in calls I've been kinda wondering about you, um, mentally :).

I'm glad you seem to be doing ok.

Hahaha. My worst recently was my call with KK on a 7-7-Q board to the sort of guy to call a $25 pre-flop raise with a 7 in his hand. But I guess this is all for my other blog. :-)

Thanks for the well wishes, you guys are the best.
