Welcome to Iran, I mean France.
France bans citizen journalists from reporting violence:
The French Constitutional Council has approved a law that criminalizes the filming or broadcasting of acts of violence by people other than professional journalists. The law could lead to the imprisonment of eyewitnesses who film acts of police violence, or operators of Web sites publishing the images, one French civil liberties group warned on Tuesday.
Absurd. Ridiculous. Scary.

If we needed an example for why the "Grassroots Lobbying Bill" (Thanks McCain!) needs to not be passed, here it is.
Ye Gods.
Posted by: Pokerwolf at March 8, 2007 08:10 AMGiven the perverse workings of bureaucracies, I'd guess that people filming violence are more likely to be prosecuted than actual violent criminals.
Once we invited people we didn't like to the parking lot; now we'll invite them to France. If Paris is worth a mass, the Louvre is worth a beatdown.
Posted by: Hubbard at March 8, 2007 09:37 AMThose silly silly French. Surly French waiters will now have license to beat people freely. C'est absurde!
