This-n-that (Karol)
*Todd Seavey beautifully segues an excellent book review into an invitation to a debate in NY on May 2nd, on the topic of whether the beauty industry oppresses women, featuring Alarming News commenter Charles Star arguing that it does. As I fall on the other side of this issue ("oppression" is something that happens in war-torn countries and totalitarian societies, not on the pages of Cosmo and the runways at Gucci), I will attend and heckle.
*Yes, I still love my 50 Cent. I think 50's comments on Jews (hat-tip Michelle Malkin) are similar to Micheal Ray Richardson's comments, and neither man offends me. Both of these men believe, for whatever reason, that Jewish people make good lawyers. Bless 'em.
*We're staying two nights at the Hard Rock Hotel and two nights at the Wynn. What does it mean that I think I am too old for the Hard Rock but that both of my parents would love it?
*Nigeria's Next Top Model? Seriously, this is what we export?
*Fred Thompson posts on Iran at RedState. Is there anything the man can't do?
*I'm surprised at the flack the British soldiers have gotten in the blogosphere over their lack of resistance to the Iranians. I maintain that we can't know how any of us would react until put in that situation. And, I'm sure they watch the news, they know the Iranian government is a little on the nutty side. I don't blame them for fearing for their lives.
