My watercooler

Sopranos discussion after the jump.

Finally something is happening. After years of slow moving storylines and spurts of action, we get these two episodes. Tony kills Christopher and AJ tries to commit suicide.

I couldn't watch AJ do it. I had my hands over my eyes. You could feel Tony and Carmella's helplessness. For years I, and many others, believed that what AJ needed most was a Tony Soprano beat-down. But really, what good would that do for a kid this messed-up?

I'm not entirely clear on why Tony killed Chrissy. Was it because of Cleaver? It can't be the drugs, Chris has been on and off drugs for years. Was it the chick?

Anyway, discuss away. You know you want to.

Am I the only one that wished AJ bit it? The whiny little punk is annoying.

Plus Tony giving one hellacious smackdown in defense of his daughter was fantastic! I cringed after the kick to the back of the head. BRUTAL!

If only we could get a nice drawn out war with Leotardo.

War with Leotardo is coming but as there's only a couple more episodes left, it can't be too drawn out.

AJ is so annoying. We've been cheering on a Tony pounding for awhile.

That episode really jacked me up. The tooth in the pants was awesome. I laughed out loud. I can't believe he didn't kill the guy.

AJ's a wiener.

I loved the Melfi discussion with her shrink about helping TS become more of a sociopath.

Do you think Lexapro's manufacturers like the publicity?

Are you serious? You don't know why Tony killed Christafuh? He snapped when he saw the baby seat, but before that he was resentful that Chris was such a weak and spineless toadie (in his eyes). It's also an expression of Tony's helplessness against his own depression. Classic Projection. He's mad at Chris for his own failures at defeating the 'Soprano Curse'. There's a million reasons to do it.

Plus, he got to lay the really hot girl in Vegas.

What about the baby seat made him snap? I guess that's what I don't understand.

Without being too much of an armchair psychologist, I would say that the baby seat represented the 'good' things in life, which he'd come to appreciate since he recovered from his gunshot. He even referenced it in his sitdown this past episode. He was mad at Chris for having everything he wanted but still risking it for something as stupid as a high.

Wow, that's such bullsh*t, but it works, right? ;-)

I think Tony killed Chris because once he saw that Chris was spitting up blood he knew he wouldnt be able to cover up the fact that Chris was driving while high...which I'm sure would have meant that Chris would be arrested. And after the whole Cleaver thing and Chris being all distant, Tony couldn't trust Chris not to flip. It was too risky. I think the car seat thing just allowed him rationalize killing this boy he'd thought of as his son.
Yeah, this week's episode was fantastic. I wis they'd done this one two years ago and then just ended the series sooner.
I'm glad AJ didn't die.
I love the dialogue with Melfi where she's like "maybe he knew the rope was too long to hold him down." And Tony was all "or maybe he's a stupid fuck, which in the past has been the case."
hahahahahhahaha
