Conversation of the Day
Me: Oh look, a new poll says the public overwhelmingly opposes the immigration bill. Who didn't know that?!
Dawn: President Bush.

In 2004, I donated quite a bit of money to Republicans. More than I had, actually. Both Bush and various out of state candidates.
After the election, though, it took about a year to thoroughly disillusion me. I haven't donated a dime to any Republicans outside a few Club for Growth and local candidates since then.
And this immigration bill is just the icing on the proverbial cake. I'm done. I'm not a Republican anymore. I don't know what I am (most certainly not a Democrat, either), but for now I'm completely "dropping out" of it all. I know the GOP will never get a dime of mine again, ever.
Posted by: Sean at May 25, 2007 12:33 AMIt doesn't matter.
I hate to say this, but the Visigoths are already inside the walls and are about to get a meal ticket courtesy of Congress.
I love Mark Levin, but I think he was completely off-base when he said that opponents of this bill weren't doing enough to prevent it from being enacted.
They're doing everything in their power-and then some-the awful truth is that the people who are our (theoretical) representatives in D.C. simply don't care.
They could have five thousand more calls flood the Washington switchboards, be deluged with tens of thousands of letters, even organize a huge march on Washington by law-abiding, taxpaying American citizens, and it wouldn't make the slightest difference.
People just need to reconcile themselves to the painful truth that our legislature is no different from that of Mexico's at this point in time.
Don't get me wrong.
I still think we should bombard these pussilanimous, treasonous slimebags with our outrage at every opportunity, but I don't think anyone should be under the illusion that it will make much difference in the ultimate outcome of this debate.
Posted by: Gerard at May 25, 2007 06:08 AMHey you...yes you...who is going to cook for you when you go out? I'm just wondering? Last I looked every place I eat in the city has Mexicans in the kitchen...am I lying? I'm just asking...please let me know who is going to cook, clean your hotels and take care of your gardens and cleaning. I'm laughing at this to be honest..the thought of even getting rid of immigrants...too funny!!!
