Okay, one more comment:
Wes Clark's campaign fell apart once people realized Wes was MacArthur rather than Eisenhower (I can explain more fully that analogy but I'm told I tend to make people's eyes glaze over).
In contrast, contrary to what the press wants to push as the meme, people don't support Fred Thompson because they see Reagan, people support Fred because he is, and always has been, Fred. That, combined with all the reasons listed in the article, is why he'll still be a player late into the election.
