Reagan was no Reagan

Fred Thompson is not perfect. Perhaps he's done things that will be unpalatable to his conservative base. Of course, I hope his conservative base isn't relying on the Los Angeles Times for facts about their guy-- as it seems they're just making things up as they go.

Shorter Hot Air:

The LA Times posts something on its web site that we don't like and that may be incorrect. We question the timing, and where's the outrage?! The LA Times does not post something on its web site that we don't like and that may be incorrect. We question the timing, and where's the outrage?!

Michael, the LA Times changed things in its article about Thompson which should (and in my mind does) raise an alarm about the accuracy of their entire story.

I'm ready to accept Thompson did things I am not going to like. It's just starting to sound like this abortion story is not among them.

Of course, the broader context is that Thompson was a Beltway-insider lobbyist whore, but you obviously don't care about that at all.

He smells of Aquashave, after all, and he's...an actor! And...um...he had a dignified Senate career? Well, no. Um. He's bright! Well...not according to Nixon. Your hero.

David Brooks:

"And then the second thing to be said is the GOP is collapsing. I mean, the party is in terrible shape. I mean, I really think it’s in the prospect of just getting wiped out in two years[.]"

Beautiful words.

Nixon is my hero??? Or, anyone's hero? Hahahahahaha. Sorry, that was really funny.

Posted by: Karol at July 10, 2007 07:09 PM

No, Karol, just the opposite. If information that you knew was incorrect remained in the article, then you would have reason to question the rest of the article. The fact that questionable, incorrect or weakly-sourced facts have been removed from the article suggests that it is now stronger than it was before.

I agree that the LA Times removing questionable information and leaving the rest has strengthened the article. Fredheads have lost all credibility because any negative in the media has to be wrong. Even the Nixon tapes that quote Nixon as saying Thompson is 'dumb as hell' must be wrong and it is in his own words.

Anyone that supports a candidate or office holder blindly doesn't think.

Thompson is the Rove/WH candidate and yet the FredHeads are always criticizing Bush. Go figure that mentality. They want him out of the WH and want to install his puppet.

Clueless comes to mind.

There's a lefty editorialist at the daily rag here who periodically trots out the "Nixon supported X; Nixon was a conservative; therefore real conservatives will support X" line of reasoning, where X has been wage and price controls, burdensome governmental regulation, and support for Red China, among other non-conservative Nixon policies.

As far as his opinion of Thompson goes, Nixon wasn't exactly a fount of wisdom on those tapes.

Of course, the most Nixon-like figure running, in theory of government role in life, is Bloomberg.

And it will be hilarious watching the m2f crowd rally behind him.

The less I knew about Fred Thompson the more I liked him. The more I learn about Fred Thompson the less I like him.
I predict a lot of the country is going to feel the same way as me.

And now it looks like Thompson is conceding that the relevant portion of the article is true...
