For all you geeks

Dawn Summers reviews the Harry Potter flick and finds it wanting. Really? A 30-something not enjoying a film about a pubescent wizard? Really?

I found Dawn's review to be harboring racist undertones. I am highly offended.

Is her complaint that there were too many adult themes and sexual overtones? Was it too mature for her? Because I just don't see our little Dawn as being 'too old for it'. Do you?

It was a little racy, now that I think about it.

The racist undertones were actually quite overt. That was one ugly "cute Asian" girl.

It was actually my second favorite of the five - nds: what's with the whole "ugly 'cute Asian' girl thing"? you saying the actress who played cho was ugly? (which is both mean and untrue...)

she wasn't ugly per se...but she was definitely at the bottom range of what was described in the books as a cute Asian girl. And come on -- that scene where Hermione is all "we need someone who will teach us" and then the lightning flashes and the thunder rolls and she turns around to look at Harry?? How did you not laugh at loud and roll your eyes?? CHHEEEEZZZZZEEEEEE

So...the first complaint is that Ron is insufficiently hot?

Well...yes.

And why does karol have nine comments on this?? It was my review. Damn her to hell.

Well, you made most of the comments, and I cannot comment on your blog during the day.

I tried to comment at Clareified, but my comment vanished. (Magically, I suppose.)

I was disappointed with the casting for Dolores Umbridge, the bureaucrat from the Ministry of Magic. The actress that plays her is insufficiently toadlike, and they left off the trademark black hair bow:

"She looked just like a large, pale toad.... Her eyes were large, round and slightly bulging. Even the little black velvet bow perched on top of her short curly hair put him in mind of a large fly she was about to catch on a long sticky tongue."
