Can't complain now. Check out that awesome ad for Dr. Ron Paul!
Posted by: aknappjr at July 18, 2007 03:57 PMYou know, for the past month or so, I used to think of E2, E3, and all the other numbered E's who'd pop up here as kind of like Thing1 and Thing2 from the Cat in the Hat. Scurrying about with boundless energy, but without being the troublemakers Dr Seuss immortalized. Anyway, it was the comments to yesterday's Ed Koch post which finally did it. I snapped, dear friends. Like a twig under Michael Moore's feet, I could take no more and finally went to Ron Paul's website. You know what? I like the guy. (I never realized he was Congressman No! I like that guy!) I think his stance on Iraq/foreign policy is flawed -- something I agree with abstractly but dangerous for the situation in which we're currently. But other than that, this guy (almost) speaks to me.
Posted by: Marco at July 18, 2007 04:31 PMsorry for the confusion...
Impressed, however... you kinda did figure out my personality out pretty well.
...and just for the record, I am not aknapp or avery who also posts here in support of Ron Paul.
Posted by: E3 at July 18, 2007 04:40 PMHe never voted to raise taxes, or to raise congressional pay.
He's never taken a government-paid junket.
He's against regulating the Internet, and against the Iraq war.
They forgot to mention that he's batshit crazy.
Posted by: harrison at July 18, 2007 05:34 PMYour attempts to marginilize him, harrison, by calling him "batshit crazy," will be unsuccessful. While its possible that a 10-term congressman who was a physician from Duke medical school with a following of hundreds of thousands might be "crazy", by which I assume you mean psychotic, its certainly unlikely. I assume you mean his ideas are "batshit crazy," such as eliminating the IRS, eliminating the dept. of education, following the constitution, getting out of unnecessary wars, ect.
I'd imagine 230 years ago, some people called Jefferson and Henry crazy, and maybe they were right (although I doubt it), but I'm sure glad they fought for the cause of liberty.

Details, details.
Ron Paul is a nut.
He subscribes to the David Duke/Pat Buchanan theory about....shhhh....(whisper quietly)..."the Jewish lobby."
Ron Paul needs to ask himself, "What am I doing to make people hate me ?"
Posted by: BadBoyInASuit at July 19, 2007 03:17 AMIf by "Jewish Lobby" you are referring to AIPAC... I am not sure about Paul's opinion of them... but other critics of AIPAC include:
George Soros
The Economist magazine
Rep. Betty McCollum (DFL)
Arkansas Senator J. William Fulbright (D)
Stephen Walt - professor @ JFK school of gov't
So by definition, criticizing even ONE aspect of AIPAC makes someone a "nut"?
E5,
Maybe you should look up Paul's history.
Paul was recently one of only two Congressmen to vote against a House resolution condemning Ahmadinejad for vowing to wipe Israel off the map.
By the way, are you talking about William Fulbright, the famous RACIST from Arkansas---oh yeah, THAT WIlliam Fulbright.
And George Soros ?
Please.
Posted by: BadBoyInASuit at July 19, 2007 01:08 PM"Clearly, language threatening to wipe a nation or a group of people off the map is to be condemned by all civilized people. And I do condemn any such language."
- Ron Paul

----------------
So, why didn't Ron Paul VOTE to CONDEMN such language ?
(Ha, ha, ha, it's just a rhetorical question---we KNOW the answer !)
