You let your tears rain down on me

I've had a very NY Press-centric week.

First, the John DeSio article on my 9/11 project and then last night, JR Taylor, who writes about music, and sometimes conjoined twins, for the Press, and also blogs on the fabulous Rightwing Trash, invited me to come see Crowded House with him at the Masonic Lodge in NY for Artists Den.

JR is my hero. He has been at the Press through it's myriad of changes and is one of the few open and consistent conservatives on the staff. His writing is hilarious and sharp. I think I once wrote I didn't ever want to be on his bad side. His wit can slice and dice.

My only other time at the Masonic Lodge was for an NRA dinner a few years back (sidenote: the next Friends of NRA dinner is at that same location on September 26th, email me for more info) and this was quite different.

You know when you go to a show and you stand all night and look up at the balcony where people are sitting and wonder "who are those people?" That was me! I was them! I was a "+1" on a list and everything!

It was a great show, 2 1/2 hours long, and the crowd was super enthusiastic. My favorite song last night was "Fall At Your Feet", which is, based on the entire crowd singing along with it, apparently a fan favorite. It's really beautiful. Don't bother with the James Blunt version, that man can sissify anything.

J.R. Taylor still writes for The Press?!

Wow, wasn't even aware of that.

I've always found it hard to keep track of who's working there with all of the mass exoduses of staff.

I made a comment about a Drinky Crow episode uploaded to Youtube, which criticized some of the rather insipid cartoons Tony Millionaire had done for The Voice.

A few minutes later he sent me a private message, "I DON'T WORK FOR THE VOICE ANYMORE, A-HOLE," or something to that effect.

I guess that was his last issue before he returned to The Press.

Go figure.
