Question

How much are my readers going to hate me when they find out that the reason for today's weak blogging is that I'm working on a mammouth post defending 50 Cent and encouraging everyone to buy his upcoming album "Curtis"?

Depends:

1.) Is this a paid endorsement? I would like to believe you're too smart to do _free_ advertisement.

2.) Would this be a logic based argument?

3.) Are you offering a "money back" guarantee if we go buy this album, it sucks, and we're stuck with a $17 paperweight?

Because, you know, other than that, there's just the support of a gansta rapper we'd all have to get over. In short, we wouldn't hate you like Palestinians hate Israelis, but we might be at Taiwan vs. China territory here.

It is not a paid endorsement. It will be mostly logic based but I start out with some emotion. Money back guarantee, no. But the whole thing is that on 9/11, both he and Kanye West are releasing albums and they're in competition with each other. Kanye was the one who said George Bush doesn't care about black people while 50 referred to Katrina as a force of nature that no one could've stopped or predicted. Just. Saying.

Shouldn't at least some of why I buy an album have to do with the quality of the music regardless of the politics and beliefs of the artist?

Oh, don't worry, I'm making a quality of music argument too. But the post is getting so long I don't even think it's going up today.

ok... just bustin' chops.

I didn't think you'd go out like one of those people who only likes or hates things (unrelated to politics) after they find out if the artist is a GWB lover or GWB hater.

I didn't think it needed to be said, but I'm just yanking your chain also. Hatred is a limited resource that should be conserved until it can be liberally applied with a dash of vengeance.

We have so much in common, James. :-)

If nothing else, at least it will reassure you that you've got readers.

Mm, optimism. :)

You would be wrong.

Why do you think I read the site? :P

Most memorable quote:

"I accept the challenge," 50 Cent told millions of viewers on Friday (August 3). "Kanye, he’s not going to want to show up. Just don’t be asking me if I am a conscious rapper. I know exactly what I am saying - so I am conscious."

Nah, I couldn't hate you. Just understand I won't be buying either album come Sept. 11th.

Republicans like black people? When did this happen? I wrote up a huge post about Blacks and the Republican Party over at my site...ya'll should go peep it. Make sure and Bonus Code: The Rooster.

I see it as a ploy to submarine sales of "Curtis"...

"endorsed by lilly white republican ladies" isn't the image Fiddy is looking for.

It happened on January 1, 1863.
