Gone truthering
I just agreed to participate in Todd Seavey's Lolita Debates to argue the anti-truther position against Sander Hicks, owner of the Vox Pop cafe in Brooklyn and spreader of truther propaganda. He's persistent, that Todd. He also called me the coolest anti-truther and I'm a sucker for compliments.
I recently commented that I wouldn't spit on Vox Pop if it was on fire (it's a few blocks from where I grew up and it riles me up something awful that hipster doofuses have moved into the area and set up a cafe to propagate 9/11 conspiracy theories) so that should be sort of awkward.
I'll let you all know the date as soon as I know.

Sander's a nice guy, so the debate should be reasonably civilized. He focuses on the supposed Pakistani ISI connection, including the claim that the head of the ISI wired $100,000 to Mohamed Atta (which comes from one unsourced article in the Times of India). I've tried to read Hicks' book but it's hard to nail down what his theory is; he clearly believes that the hijackers existed and took over the planes. Beyond that it's hard to say.
His biggest problem is that he is overly credulous of some obvious conmen, including Delmart (Mike) Vreeland and the buffoonish "Ambassador" Leo Wanta. Given Sanders' past history with James Hatfield and "Fortunate Son" this clearly seems significant.
