Let's. Go. Yankees.
I'd like to take a moment and pity all the Mets fans out there. Yankee fans, please do join me.
Dawn, Kearns, Charlie, Mark, and all my other blogless Met fan friends--sorry, guys, better luck next year. And maybe next year you can keep your June trash-talking to a minimum. Just. Saying.
UPDATE: We must remember in our Mets mocking to congratulate the Phillies.

Thanks. And Good Luck Yankees! Do it again! By which I mean, hopefully go 3-0 and then lose the next four straight. HAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHAHA. Oh, sorry. Right, Thanks, Karol for your thoughts.
Posted by: Not Dawn Summers at October 1, 2007 11:43 AMSitting from the catbird seat, I'm not sure which was more entertaining--the Yankees' implosion or the Mets playing the role of the hare.
I mean, when ESPN does it's "25 Greatest Choke Jobs" again, let's just say the state of New York will figure prominently. At least the Buffalo Bills can say they came out on the good end of one NFL asphyxiation.
Posted by: James at October 1, 2007 12:11 PMAw... pity the fools (and I could, a bit more, if they hadn't been so damn gleeful in 2004 - even though they themselves were gleeful from home - y'know, a Melts regular October location)
Posted by: Ari at October 1, 2007 01:03 PMI'm a yankees fan...but the truth of the matter is that even Yankee fans should root for the Mets because who doesn't want to see the Mets v. Yanks series....serious.
None the less, like I say, don't get all excited or sad about a team unless they are paying your bills. It is just two teams playing against one another...nothing more...nothing less.
Posted by: joaquinochoa at October 1, 2007 05:49 PMDon't worry about us: this is our chance to get rid of the Yankee infiltrator.

I swear, that sounds like Hillary preaching to a bunch of welfare queens about the importance of voting Democrat !
Thx Karol,
I seriously want to root for you however there no Devil Rays or Orioles in the AL playoffs. What ya gonna do?
A round of golf next week? It's on us.
Posted by: Kj at October 2, 2007 05:53 PMCaught the game tonight... (mocking Karol voice)

Karol, and all my blogless Yankee fan friends--sorry, guys, better luck next time. And maybe next year, if you insist on getting beat like a pinata out of the playoffs, maybe you can keep your Mets-bashing to a minimum. 5 hits. 12-3. Just. Saying.
UPDATE: We must remember in our Yankee mocking to congratulate the Indians!
Hahahaha. Jeez, I must've missed the Mets game. What channel was that on?
Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2007 01:05 AMAs if that makes last night's game any less embarrassing for the Yanks. Come on now, you already shamed yourselves by staring at Boston's behind all year, the least you can do is die gracefully in the playoffs. Did I mention the score was 12-3? Against the Indians? You realize nobody in Cleveland even knows their team made the playoffs?
Posted by: charlie at October 5, 2007 11:55 AMAnd yet Mets fans would give what exactly to be the Yankees right now? Look, the bitter thing is just embarrassing. Root for NY! I would.
Posted by: Karol at October 5, 2007 12:22 PMThat's a good question -- I don't know exactly how much, but I think the Mets would have to give another $130 million approximately to be the Yankees.
But then, I don't know that Mets fans would support that. I think they'd rather just see the Mets play better baseball than, you know, just spend twice as much money as everyone else.
Btw, you can't have it both ways -- if you start off with a post bashing the Mets, you are precluded from falling back to the defense of "hey, we're all New Yorkers, can't we just get along". Nice try though.
Posted by: charlie at October 5, 2007 04:30 PMHey! I rooted for the Mets last year after the Yanks were out of it. And actually, like I previously wrote, I rooted for them this year because I wanted a shot at the Subway Series.
And puhleeeeeeeeeease Mets fans would do whatever they had to to be the Yankees. Just because your owner pockets more of the cash than he spends on the team doesn't mean you have to hate on the Yanks.
