My week in pictures

I've had a really good, hectic week. And the weekend, with poker tonight and the Cowboys/Giants game which I will be attending on Sunday, seems very promising. I'm pretty busy today so I'm going to do a little lazy photo-blogging until things clear up:

SUNDAY:

I took my newly bought-to-match-my-Cowboys-gear knee-socks for a spin. Great success, they crushed the Eagles (click the link to see the happiest guy last Sunday):

I love my shirt and knee-socks.

MONDAY was a wash but on TUESDAY I went to the Young Republican (the state-party affiliated one) debate and straw poll. Basically, they had people representing various candidates. My friend Avery played the role of, who else, Ron Paul while my friend Claudio did a phenomenal job representing Mike Huckabee. Ron Paul won the straw poll but I think it's pretty widely accepted that that was because of the his movement's ability to show up for him rather than some kind of groundswell of support among the YRs. Interestingly, there was no one there representing Fred Thompson in the debate, though he did have a supporter handing out bumper stickers:

WEDNESDAY was just crazy. I took a morning flight to DC, spent a few hours there working and then flew back at 3:30. This was taken during my cab ride back to the airport:

I was landing in NY just as the sun was starting to set and my city looked so beautiful. I took these out the airplane window:

And then the debate. This is the only picture I have from the debate, taken by my friend M (if anyone else took some, please send them along). The moderator, Michel Evanchik is sitting between myself and Sander Hicks. Sadly, you can't really see my adorable dress:

THURSDAY, I went to the Jewcy party at their new offices. It was off the hizook. I mean, really, when have you ever said that a party at an office--and not even your office!-- was awesome? But it was. It could be that the music was perfect. They played Common, they played Lily Allen. I would exclaim "I love this song!" every few minutes. Maybe it was the space, with their ping-pong and foosball tables and solid amount of booze.

Best. Office. Ever.

Foosball.

Or the fact that the Jews attracted to Jewcy tend to be pretty funky:

But more likely it was that everyone I talked to at this party were, honestly, fascinating. I did not have one uninteresting conversation. I had recently met Jewcy Associate Editor Michael Weiss through my dayjob, thought he was great, and his people didn't disappoint. Among the many cool people I met were Izzy Gallant, who writes Manolo for the Men, a site so fabulous I was surprised to find out that Izzy is straight. Izzy is also single and "insanely handsome" (it's a clause in my contract that I have to refer to him as such. Those fashionistas are so particular.) I also met the team behind News Groper, a satire site based in Brooklyn. There were three of them; I believe a Socialist, a Libertarian and a moderate. That office must get pretty fun. Another fun conversation was had with Jamie Kirchick, friend of Dorian Davis, who writes for a bunch of different sites including TNR's The Plank and Jewcy's Daily Schvitz. He's also guest-blogged for Andrew Sullivan.

My date was Abe Greenwald, who, in his latest post for Cabal, wonders if Michael Moore has anything to say about the recent school shooting in Finland. I don't suppose he does, unless blame can somehow be assigned to George W. Bush. I accidentally made Abe invite me to this party, before I realized it was going to be quite an intimate affair. But he took it in stride and showed me a good time.

At one point in the night, a three-piece band showed up and played some songs.

Apparently, they weren't even invited, they just wandered in. And, it turns out, I missed the most exciting show of the night (the video at the link is not safe for work).

Like I wrote at the start, I've had a really good week. I might have some good news to share later on today, if things work out.

This photo-post took forever. I'll be back soon with some word-orientated blogging.
