"Change is what you'll have in your pocket if Obama is elected"- DTDT
I agree with Shawn Macomber, who sent me this video, that the "Yes We Can" video is completely creepy. I also think that Obama's rhetoric sounds that much more empty when set to music.

I am currently watching the BBC series "World at War." It is about WWII and contains many speeches given by Hitler. I think Obama watched the same DVD and was inspired.
Both used the same themes about people and country. Both speak in generalities. Both use the same speech cadence.
Is it scary? When you see Obama get the same reaction from the audience that Hitler did, I get scared.
Posted by: Jake at February 4, 2008 10:47 AMOutside the MTV studios we encountered some Obama supporters chanting the same "Yes we can". They had no answer to our request for clarification: "If YOU can why are you asking the gov't to do it for you?"
Posted by: E5 at February 4, 2008 10:48 AM"Yes we can" is the same chant used by the bigots at La Raza. When La Raza chants it (in Spanish), they mean that they can get away with their scheme to turn back half of the US to Mexico.

Posted by: Not Dawn Summers at February 4, 2008 03:32 PMThat reminds me of the 1930s socialists, the 1960s socialist, talk about idealism, making a better world, while their leaders plot to repress our freedom, and mess up our working capitalist system, thus driving us all into poverty except the rich Hollywood elite, and some big biz folks who have billions to spare.
There was a movie about some of it, Rock the cradle or something? I remember reading Bob Dylan's biography, the last book her wrote, he saw what the Pete Seagers, Joan Biaz's and their ilk were. He went in his own direction.

Cradle Will Rock, I believe.

Wonder if that was before or after his electric set at the Newport Folk Festival.
As for the video, it may just be my monitor, but Obama looks like Bela Lugosi. And I guess I don't see why change has to come from high up and trickle down. When you think about it, it's actually disabling and not enabling.
Posted by: Shawn at February 4, 2008 09:26 PMIn '63 he wrote "talkin john birch paranoid blues" where he mocks the john birch commie hunters... my take on it was he was at least sympathetic to the communist movement and mocking those "out to get them":

However Dylan has stated that he supported Goldwater back in '64:

His true views are impossible to gauge, though... who knows if he really even did support Goldwater or just tries to fuck with people. I'd guess more of the latter.... does it better than anyone, Andy Kauffman included.
