McCain arrives at CPAC
I don't know why my camera decided it needed to go into black&white for his arrival:
George Allen is introducing him right now. Man, is it a weird experience being at CPAC and seeing McCain buttons and t-shirts. There were none last year.
UPDATE: Tom Coburn is speaking now, I guess McCain is coming up.

OMG! That almost looks like Jack Bauer behind McCain. Karol, can you confirm????
Posted by: daniel at February 7, 2008 03:29 PMI expect you to have your picture taken with him before the day is out.
Posted by: Jake at February 7, 2008 03:43 PMImpossible, jake, he's too big a star right now. There was a huge line to hear him speak and there are crowds around every tv set. I have a pic with him from 04, it'll have to do for now.
Posted by: Karol at February 7, 2008 03:55 PMI'm pretty sure you can blame the Dude for the black and white pics.
Impossible usually takes a week, you're gonna have to make moves

Posted by: Gerard at February 7, 2008 06:05 PMRepublicans have zero sense of style.
Looking at them on the news this evening, I was as always struck at how they dress themselves up so earnestly and soberly, like children playing dress-up (which, of course, most of them are...)
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 7, 2008 07:08 PMYeah hash, unlike the red leather backless chaps (with nothing underneath) and electric nipple clams you prance around the West Village in.
Jizzgurgler.
Posted by: Radical Redneck at February 7, 2008 11:01 PMWell! Now that speaks volumes...
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 8, 2008 12:08 AMBusiness attire is expected at such occasions, weedhead. They're considered ever so slightly more formal than the bongfests you attend.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 8, 2008 12:43 PMMaybe if you could figure out how to airbrush out your zits for real, they'd allow you in as well, douchie.
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 8, 2008 04:40 PMGO, S.U.N.Y.!!!
Posted by: Gerard at February 8, 2008 05:55 PMAww, that's the best thing you could come up with?
Unfortunately for you, my zits exist in the same reality as your dancing pink elephants. But if you'd like to prove otherwise, you're always welcome to take me up on my standing offer.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 9, 2008 02:53 PMHashdouche defends Nazi DU'ers demanding rich get purged from country (ala Jews in Nazi Germany before they were made into lampshades). Mindless moron gets his moonbat ass shredded - enjoy!
Posted by: Radical Redneck at February 9, 2008 11:45 PMAnd I meant it. ENJOY!!
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 10, 2008 09:31 AMSo tell us, weedhead, why does any of my wealth "belong" to you or anyone else? You want to talk about "fair share," all right. KHarn is almost there, but not quite: the fact of the matter is that any "fair share" I owe, that is to say in a compulsory fashion, to anyone else is zero. What's fair is for me to keep what is mine; I ask that no one be forced to support me, and I likewise desire the same for others. You, asshole, by complete contrast, fail to see that your "benevolence" is merely that people like Karol and me are forced to support everyone else who merely wants to eat out of our substance.
Work does not equal wealth, nor should it. There's a big difference why I make more than someone digging in the ground, yet bring home bigger paychecks without breaking a sweat. If you don't understand why, I can only suggest ridding yourself of the "stuff" and its related paraphernalia.
There are indeed people who live off the "poor and the working people" -- it's called government and the people they give tax money to.
I probably shelled out more in taxes last year than you earned. I won't even bother to make a distinction between "grossed" or "netted." We can safely figure you, in your drug-induced stupors, couldn't possibly "contribute" to the economy more than a job where your tax liability is zero.
And I'm still waiting.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 10, 2008 01:03 PM"I probably shelled out more in taxes last year than you earned."
I doubt that. Very, very much.
"And I'm still waiting."
Waiting for what, dumbass? Your exit visa, I hope?
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 10, 2008 02:27 PMAnd I meant it. ENJOY!!
I have no doubt about that you pathetic, ignorant, foolish, envious, self-loathing Cess Pool of Life™ bottom feeder.
Posted by: Radical Redneck at February 10, 2008 08:17 PMYou doubt? Sorry, but doubting requires thought and reasoning processes, which you don't have.
I'm waiting for you to take up my offer, but since you bring up another thing, go ahead. Just try to deport me, as you threatened before.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 11, 2008 08:36 PM"Just try to deport me, as you threatened before."
Well, I'm not a border guard, or an immigration official, so, I don't possess authority to do it personally.
I think there should be serious ramifications for anyone who threatens anyone with a firearm, as you did me.
But, we all understand, you believe you are above the law.
If I had anything to say about it, things would be far different, and you'd find yourself in a very different sort of situation.
Finished trolling yet?
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 11, 2008 11:23 PM"Well, I'm not a border guard, or an immigration official, so, I don't possess authority to do it personally."
So, weedhead, you admit here that you were talking out your ass (as always), and making a threat you couldn't back up, eh?
"I think there should be serious ramifications for anyone who threatens anyone with a firearm, as you did me."
No, prick, you initially threatened me. Anything I said after that was merely a promise of self-defense, and one which I promise you can take to the bank.
In your toke-filled world, you may not understand that there is or even believe that there is a clear difference between your promise to initiate violence and my promise to make you regret your initiation of force, but there is most certainly a difference.
"But, we all understand, you believe you are above the law."
You lie. I never threatened you with illegimate force, only replying with an invocation of my right to self-defense, but you most certainly threatened me. So it is YOU who believes he is above the law, by threatening to physically remove me from my country.
Even so, you're presupposing that law exists above people, when in fact law is derived from people's rights. In your case, you have no right to deport me or have others deport me, and should you try to make good on your asinine threat before, you'll assuredly regret it...for a few seconds in this life, and a long time in the next.
Now, you believe in blind obedience to the law, that law is always right?
Alien and Sedition Acts? The Constitution's initial sanction of slavery? Laws throughout the ages that mandated obedience to the king, else you could be executed for "treason"?
Since we've touched on another subject, how about concealed carry legislation that empowers criminals at the expense of now-legally-defenseless citizenry?
I'm not surprised, considering you're wrong on just about everything, that you don't understand that "above the law" is meaningless.
"If I had anything to say about it, things would be far different, and you'd find yourself in a very different sort of situation."
And if wishes were weed, you'd make Cheech and Chong envious, right?
The really funny thing about it is you can't do anything about it, no matter how much you wished, bucko. And someday enough of us in this country will get tired of you and others stealing the fruit of our labor. Very, very tired, and angry enough that you'll find it unpleasant.
I'm still waiting for you to define what my "fair share" to "contribute" is, when you're the one who feeds off others' labor.
"Finished trolling yet?"
I never troll, but you constantly do. Go on, entertain us with your next pathetic blathering.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 12, 2008 03:19 PM"The really funny thing about it is you can't do anything about it, no matter how much you wished, bucko."
Ha, ha! You will learn.
"And someday enough of us in this country will get tired of you and others stealing the fruit of our labor."
You are hardly in any position to get tired of any of us.
"Very, very tired, and angry enough that you'll find it unpleasant."
Keep digging yourself in further, parasite.
"I'm still waiting for you to define what my "fair share" to "contribute" is, when you're the one who feeds off others' labor."
You will learn, in due time, little boy.
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 12, 2008 03:30 PM"Ha, ha! You will learn."
Empty words. You're the most laughable here as on any other online forum you've appeared on.
So you will teach me...how? How, with hot lead up your ass should you ever try to initiate force against me? Go ahead, talk about deporting me again. Then back up your words with actions, and try to do something about it.
"You are hardly in any position to get tired of any of us."
Guess again, weedhead. Storm's comin', and enough of us are getting tired of you not pulling your own weight.
"Keep digging yourself in further, parasite."
Into what? Aw, are you feeling threatened again, though you're a liar (which complements your cowardice so well) and was in fact threatening in the first place? I notice you didn't even try to refute that...
"You will learn, in due time, little boy."
More empty words, from your empty head. Clearly you're voting for Obama.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 13, 2008 03:37 PMNo, I'm not.
When are you going to get out of my country, Perry?
When are you going to pay back what you have stolen from this land?
I think you need to get out.
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 13, 2008 04:57 PM"When are you going to get out of my country, Perry?"
It's not "your" country, weedhead, and you can't make it yours.
Morally speaking, it's as much mine as yours. Legalistically speaking, since I pay more in taxes than you earn in income, that makes it more of mine than yours.
"When are you going to pay back what you have stolen from this land?"
In fact, I've "stolen" nothing. My life is based on voluntary transactions; I coerce no one. You, on the other hand, have stolen and continue to steal from me via taxation, and by preventing me from engaging in peaceful commerce.
"I think you need to get out."
Go ahead, asshole. Make me. Like I said, you'd find the resulting reaction, a "Newtonian truism" as it's been called, quite unpleasant for you.
Now that I've said that, are you gonna cry to momma again?
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 14, 2008 04:02 PM"Morally speaking, it's as much mine as yours. Legalistically speaking, since I pay more in taxes than you earn in income, that makes it more of mine than yours."
No, you don't.
And since you are unwilling to meet even your basic obligation to pay the dues that entitle you to the right to be paid what you are (I hesitate to use the word "earn", because you certainly would not be an asset to even the most inefficient employer), you have no right to even work here or be here, much less engage in the flesh trade and bring MORE illegals here, for your personal gratification.
We, the people, are tired of paying your share, while you loot our land.
I think you need to get out (and take any "dependents" with you, ASAP)...
OUT, OUT, OUT!!!
Posted by: hashfanatic at February 14, 2008 05:34 PMInstead of the toke, try a dose of reality.
You still haven't defined what exactly I need to pay, let alone why you and others should receive it.
You claim I "loot" the country. Tell me how, when it's I who pay for others who live off my tax dollars. The irony is lost on you, that when you call for me to leave, you'd only bankrupt yourself.
You claim others subsidize my living, when it's my income that subsidizes others. My industry is hampered by government, not helped. If you didn't notice, Wall Street pays enough taxes to fund a third of NYC's budget -- where would you be without us paying for your pathetic asses?
You claim I bring "illegals" here, which is outright libel.
You don't even know what I do for a living, or how much my boss values my work. Which, if I must say, is highly efficient. My bonuses and pay raises speak for themselves -- and if you must know, my bonuses are sufficiently high that half of it is taxed away. How about you?
You want me to leave, weedhead? You'll have to make me.
Come on, punk. You just try it. But again, we know you can't. You don't have the intellect, the guts, or even the means. So crawl right back into your hole like the sniveling little cockroach you are.
I would never dream of calling you a scurvy spider. Spiders are actually are good creatures, minding their own business and killing pests. It's cockroaches like you merely spread degeneration and filth.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 15, 2008 02:19 PMWell, you seem resistant, even defiant, to pay your rightful, legally mandated share of taxes, which are your dues to remain in this nation and partake of the bounty that is this land, and enable you to work and earn your keep, which is not free.
"You claim others subsidize my living, when it's my income that subsidizes others."
No, you do not "subsidize others". With your miserable, greedy, grasping, greedy, out-for-myself attitude, which appears to exemplify itself in your financial choices, we subsidize YOU.
Get out, out of my country, and take your flesh-trade concubine with you (and see how long your "love" lasts, in absence of a green card.)
Other Pinoy have built happy, successful lives and families the old-fashioned, proper way, not out of arrangements of convenience.
You are a parasitic on this nation and a disgrace to your own people.
If I had my way, you'd be transferred out on the first transport, without one red American cent.
"Well, you seem resistant, even defiant, to pay your rightful, legally mandated share of taxes, which are your dues to remain in this nation and partake of the bounty that is this land, and enable you to work and earn your keep, which is not free."
Laws can be wrong, and history tells us that laws have often been wrong. So just because something is the law does not make it right.
Instead, tell us why you're entitled to any of my wealth, rather than falling behind empty "But it's the law" argument. That's no better than conservatives opposing illegal immigration "because it's against the law." By God, I wish I could see a picture of you as you stammer in front of your computer screen, your face turning beet red as you try to think of a real argument.
"No, you do not "subsidize others". With your miserable, greedy, grasping, greedy, out-for-myself attitude, which appears to exemplify itself in your financial choices, we subsidize YOU."
Now this is the most ludicrous thing you've ever said. Half of my income goes to pay for others' lives (and more, when you consider how the businesses I transact with are regulated to hell and pass the costs on to me), yet it's I who have others pay for my life?
So again, tell me how any facet of my life depends on you and others paying for it. How are you being forced to pay for any of it? Public transportation would be the closest thing, except that the taxes I pay more than offset any subsidies that pay for my reduced fares.
Get out, out of my country, and take your flesh-trade concubine with you (and see how long your "love" lasts, in absence of a green card.)
Other Pinoy have built happy, successful lives and families the old-fashioned, proper way, not out of arrangements of convenience.
More libel. Try saying that to my face someday, punk.
Oh wow, you actually looked up a synonym for "Filipino"! I'm still not impressed. I'll let you in on a little secret that will shatter another part of your illusion: our families from completely different provinces. Our families never knew each other, so when the Mrs. and I travel around there, no small part is so I can meet her family.
I really feel sorry for you that you're so jealous. But I suppose what I have, being built on real love, is more than you could ever dream of having. What's the matter, not getting any? Or you're tired of being the bitch in order to get some?
You are a parasitic on this nation and a disgrace to your own people.
So my "own people" are exactly who? Franco-Germanic-Filipinos? Other than my sister, let me know if you hear of anyone with the same genetics as mine. And if the truth be told, I'm an American. Born an American citizen, and I'll die an American citizen.
The truth is that you're the parasite, asshole. You're a parasite on this nation, and on this blog. And you can call me the Orkin Man. I might not kill all you cockroaches, but I can make you scurry for your dark holes.
"If I had my way, you'd be transferred out on the first transport, without one red American cent."
That's just the thing. You want to bluff about depriving me of my rights? Sure, I'll play. I'll see your hot air and raise you NATO 7.62. Still feel like trying to deport me?
C'mon, punk.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at February 17, 2008 10:26 AMWOW! That is me in the picture! I'm the one in the Stony Brook hoody right next to him. Haha how awesome? I love CPAC.
