Houston, we have a problem
Black leaders: what's the big deal about Wright's comments?:
"Most of the African-Americans I talked to say, 'Well, what did he say that was so wrong? Did he lie? He's telling the truth," she said. "So my question is, 'Are we still in two Americas?'"
Nope, just one America though it seems to have more than its share of the naive and gullible.
And all that America-hating? It's just a way of giving hope:
The Rev. Michael Blackwell, who directs the Center for Multicultural Education at University of Northern Iowa, said at the end of the sermons --- even the ones in which Wright makes his now-famous statements --- is a message of God's love and, through that, a path to justice.Posted by Karol at March 24, 2008 02:05 PM | TrackBack"It means the preacher tells the church members what they need to hear at that moment. It's a way of giving hope," he said.

Hmmmm...usually giving hope doesn't involve trying to convince people that that G-d shold damn their country, or that people with different skin color - some of them brothers and sisters in Christ - are trying to poison them with AIDS and illegal drugs.
I wouldn't find that type of message particularly "hopeful". But then again, I'm white, and therefore part of the grad conspiracy.

That is not a preacher doing his job, and that is what bothers me about preachers like Wright. It's not about God, it's about them and the show they are putting on.
And it all illustrates the absence of leadership. It takes strength to preach what the people do not want to hear. It was weakness that kept Obama silent until politics demanded he finally say something.

Posted by: James at March 24, 2008 04:42 PMJust more outburst of racism in hope that the black stiffs on the street will part with more of they're money. Je$$ie and $harpton have made a career out of it and became rich in the process. They simply improved on MLK's con.

The big deal is that while most of white America has made a quantum leap away from racist and prejudiced thinking and acting, we find that many of our black brothers and sisters have gone bavkward and are consumed with anger and hate and the mentality of victimhood.
The funny thing is, though, most of the objects of their anger and hate are only guilty of being white and they were not the perpetraters of any racial slights or atrocities and the haters themselves were never victims except in their own minds.
True racial healing can only begin when there is honesty, acknowledgement and forgiveness from all sides. Can that ever happen when so many black leaders make their living by perpetuating the racial divide?
I hate to say it, but I don't think we'll have true racial healing until we're on the other side of some ugly (censored).
