I guess when you're not going to be president, you've got some time on your hands
Mike Huckabee's website has a creepy countdown clock and there's speculation that he'll be making a big speech on the 15th, the day the clock stops. I'm betting it'll be about taxes, and how enacting the fair tax would mean this was the last tax day ever. I also think it's his way of shilling for the vp slot.

Considering the source, I'm not ruling out Judgment Day.
Posted by: Jim Lesczynski at April 9, 2008 05:08 PMNow how much would it suck if we found out later that ol' Huckabee had insider knowledge on the date of the Apocalypse? I mean, seriously--I would SOOOO skip work between now and then.

Hate to say but I think Huckabee is working his list of activists, small money people etc and wants to keep reminding them that he is around. Huck is betting that McCain goes down in flames (kind of like Reagan counted on Ford doing the same thing after the convention back in 76). Let's be honest. The 2008 GOP primaries hurt a lot more contenders than helped them (any takers for Rudy or Fred 2012....didn't think so). Huck was helped.
And if he is shooting for the VP spot, I can't say I blame him. The nod would help him in 2012. And even if McCain wins, well you have a president who is in his 70s and has a history of health problems . I think a lot of people, Huck included, will be shilling for that spot and who can blame them.
