Two random Tuesday questions

1) Is anyone still going to drink Starbucks coffee now that they have the calories listed on the menu? I mean, I still got my Venti Skinny Mocha with an extra shot of espresso, but I only drink Starbucks every few months and it's one of their less fatty drinks at 160 calories. Is anyone going to be taking down 580 calorie drinks if they're informed of the caloric count like that? If I was a stock-orientated type of gal, I'd say sell the SBUX.

2) Do you ever feel like some job you'd never want is actually your calling? I really think I'd make a good DJ, and also a good editor, but I'd never want to pursue either of those professions. Are you good at things you'd never want to do?

In response to your first question, I have one word:

McDonalds

Does McDonald's list the calorie count right on the menu? Or do they have it listed somewhere off to the side on some chart that no one reads?

I switched away from the fatty drinks after they started making the calorie info. online -- just too many empty calories to start the day -- all Americanos and regular coffee now (30 calories plus what's in a packet of sugar and milk). Now, if I could only stop eating the 500 calorie pastries...

I would make a kick ass social worker. Gag.

My cafe latte tastes good.

You would make a horrible DJ.

I can glaze, spiral cut and section a ham like a real pro but I don't want to be a butcher.

I can edit briefs, draft motions, maintain databases, handle filings---and I have zero desire to be a lawyer.

regarding your first question, why isn't everyone's answer "YES"?!?!?

Coffee means coffee. Coffee has no calories. Put the "0" on the cup, for all I care.

Now if you are referring to Starbucks milkshakes, why didn't you say so?

Starbucks calls them "coffee drinks" or "something-ccinos" because if they called them milkshakes, people might realize they are actually drinking a fucking milkshake at 9:15 in the morning.

But just as Lincoln supposedly said:

"How many legs does a dog have if you call the tail a leg? Four. Calling a tail a leg doesn't make it a leg."

...calling a milkshake "coffee", does not make it coffee.

I doubt it. I usually just ask for "milk."

In any case, if you're going to worry about drinking espresso, shouldn't you be more concerned about how much caffeine it contains?

McDonald's has the nutrition info online and they actually print the info on the actual wrapper of the food. I know this b/c every once in a while even a dietitian needs the 2 cheeseburger meal.

My big food conundrum is Jamba Juice. I just don't get that phenomenon For the same calories I could have 2 slices of pizza and actually be satisfied.

1) it wouldn't change my relationship with Starbucks, the latter being one-time stands, so to speak, every 3.5 yrs or so. I generally dislike the way they butcher coffee beans. Barbarians. There is an Amish store/cafe in midtown East that makes perfect latte - and I don't care how many calories it contains. Same with any Portugese and Spanish (not Hispanic)place.
2) I make decent collages with dried flora and found objects. Besides being a very good floral designer. And I knit. And cook. Strange dogs like me immediately.
The aforementioned skills will come handy in my retirement, when - I suspect - the famed Social Security will leave me shaking in the cold...

1).I hate coffee, and save loads not going to the poncey shops that stink of it and make me gag. Mcdons hat choc is lovely, and they do have all the calories on the back of the tray sheets.
2). My brother was the manager of a huge call centre, and has recently decided to use his shares, bonuses, savings. in order to write and do stand up. After 6 months, he's just about to start his own comedy night which will start making him money.
