I've worked in the Hamptons and so has my sister during summers.
Restaurants will simply have to pay more for service. Frankly, customers will appreciate staff that SPEAK ENGLISH.

Also, a large part of the problem is that non-spanish speaking Americans have been shut out until now.

I don't know about that, Ron. Not infrequently, I find it no worse trying to understand a foreigner's thick accent than cringing from some dumbass American's version of "English." Good lord, I want to die every time I'm standing in line and hear some 20-something talk like a goddamn Valley Girl.

Price elasticity probably won't be an issue in the Hamptons. If an entree costs a few dollars more, it's doubtful that will affect demand. But elsewhere, such as your typical fast food joint, labor costs are very much a concern.

Ron, you are what the spanish would call bag of duche.(see they switch it around...)

If you had worked there you would have realized that most of the summer help comes from Ireland.

When was the last time you sat down for a meal in East Hampton and the waiter did not speak english?

You really don't know what the fuck you're talking about do you?

P.S. I probably banged your sister one summer.

"They're called 'teenagers', look into it"

And they're really, really lazy, unmotivated, irresponsible and self-entitled.

Perry with reference to your last sentence; which do people want more cheaper cheap labour, or less immigrants? Surely it's one or the other?

M,

The Irish Illegals are
1) Decreasing in number. (Ireland now has its own immigrantion problem.)
2) able to speak english. (OK, the accent can be rough.)
3) not settling in the Hamptons and living of the benefits of anchor children.

Waiters generally speak english (although World Pie was an exception), but busers don't.

Perry,
The issue is not accent. Last time I was at Barrister's, the buser didn't understand the request for a ketchup that was not empty.

I'm certain that price elasticity of food would be less of an issue if taxes were not so high.

Ron, I apologize for my insensitive comment. I just like absurd humor.

Couple more bits:

-Dou you know how hard it is to run a business where you need to make a whole years revenue in 3 months. Any inclement weather can cost tens of thousands on a weekend. It is not as simple as just pay more for your labor.

-Why do you not like Spanish speaking immigrants? Would it be better if they were Korean?

-Does this distataste for spanish speaking immigrants stem from that awfull ketchup incident you had to endure???

-Did your family come here on Leif Ericksons journey or were they at one time immigrants as well?

-Tell me How the spanish speaking immigrants on the east end of Long Island take away from your lifes enjoyment.

-My main question is why spanish speaking immigrants offend you. Did anyone ever beat you up while singing La Bamba?

yours truly,

An anchor that pays shit loads of tax
