Psych! That's never gonna happen.
Like everyone else, I keep wondering "how is Hillary Clinton still in this thing?"
I've actually heard from a couple of thoughtful people that she may just be in it at this point to spare Obama the shame of her dropping out and his losing West Virginia anyway.
What do you guys make of that?
Personally, I've seen absolutely no evidence that Hillary cares one iota what happens to Obama after she's gone. Coupled with the fact that she lent her campaign more money after her North Carolina loss, Hillary seems to be in this thing indefinitely. She might drop out after the inauguration, and even then she won't be gracious.

Wouldn't that require some altruism on her part?
After the WV primary, the Obama camp needs to start ramping up against McCain. Such talk would further push Hillary out of the limelight.
Posted by: Shawn at May 12, 2008 04:19 PMI'm hearing that she hasn't dropped out because she owes so much in loans and so forth. I'd think that stopping operations would save her more money than continuing on, wouldn't you?
Posted by: Pokerwolf at May 12, 2008 04:53 PMClinton is winning the nomination. Hope that Helps!
Posted by: at May 13, 2008 01:40 AMI heard one theory that she is staying in to kibosh the Dems for 2008, so she has a better chance at the run for 2012. Personally, I think this year, if any, is the dems best chance.
Posted by: bryan at May 13, 2008 07:07 AMIt's sad that Dean, Reid, and Pelosi don't have the cojones to tell her that playtime is over, it's time to drop out, and if she doesn't then it will be made abundantly clear to the people of New York that the reason they can't get _any_ funds appropriated to them is their junior senator decided to sabotage the party's chances to take the White House.
But then again, maybe I'm just ruthless like that.
She is staying in the race waiting for Obama to implode. Obama is the least vetted candidate to get this close to a major party nomination. I wouldn't be surprised if the Clinton team is aware of the smoking gun that they believe will derail Obama. However, the situation may be such that they can not be the source of the info. She is obviously not staying in because the math tells her she has a chance (barring Obama falling off the radar).

Exactly. It's not going to happen, but what the hell does she have to lose? This is IT for Hillary. Even Gloria Steinem won't have any stomach for Hillary in eight years.
If there IS a big nasty skeleton in his closet, she better whip that bad-boy out now. The SS Clinton is leaking faster than she can bail.
Posted by: Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg at May 13, 2008 06:35 PMNah, I don't think she should whip it out now. Break it out now, Obama's got 90 days to recover.
Unload that skeleton in July, however (because, yes, she'll still be in the race after June)...well now, whole different ball game.
Like I said, the woman's behaving like someone who is taking the pot one way or the other--and she has the only gun at ye olde poker table. You don't put several million dollars in the pot if you're just planning on waiting for four years, especially as Obama will not be paying that debt off (if for no other reason than he likes sleeping in bed, not the couch). Hillary has done so without seemingly blinking. _That_ should scare the p*ss out of people in the Union of the Donkey.
