Spike Lee takes hit over portrayal of Italians
Much as I think Spike Lee is dumb as a rock, I always thought his best movies were the ones with white people, including Italians, like "25th Hour", "Summer of Sam" and "Do The Right Thing" (I also believe that Quentin Tarantino is at his very best when making movies about black people, "Jackie Brown" is an undiscovered classic). Criticize Lee for his idiotic beliefs, not for his movies.

Yeah, he's an idiot. I saw him speak in the 90's on a college tour.

My problem with Spike Lee films is he always gives too much screen time to himself.
Spike Lee's School Daze was a shock to me. It was about the racial tensions between light skinned blacks and dark skinned blacks.
I don't know if those racial tensions exist but I hope he is wrong.

I don't know if they exist in America beyond teasing but I did my undergrad thesis on Trinidad and it exists in a big way there. Dark skinned black people elect either white or light skinned blacks as their leaders, there remain bars in some places that won't allow dark-skinned people but will allow light-skinned, etc.
