Man threatens to kill Obama, also some other guy
Uh-oh :
A man is being held in Florida by federal authorities on charges of threatening to assassinate Barack Obama.
Everybody panic. This is just like MLK. And JFK. And also RFK. But not like the attempt on Reagan cause that guy was mad old and not at all trying to like, change stuff. The man is trying to hold Barack back but we won't let him. O-ba-ma! O-ba-ma!
Except, turns out, the nutjob wanted to take out Bush too:
Another tipster said Geisel also threatened President George W. Bush.
Of course, he's just the president and doesn't have the oh-wow-shiver-down-my-leg star power of Obama so that little tidbit isn't mentioned until the third paragraph. Lead with the news, as they say.

Let's also not forget whacking the thirst for fame aspect either. I mean, what else did Lee Harvey Oswald do that would have people talking about him 45 years later? If all you've ever been is a loser and you want people to remember you forever...
Finally, I'm afraid I gotta disagree with you Karol on the level of news. While I think the press went overboard here, Dubya is a lame duck President who is rapidly approaching 100 days left in office. While he probably doesn't want to hear it, short of tossing a big one on someone his legacy's pretty much written. Other than the amusement of people trying to find Dick Cheney in order to swear him in ("Um, he said something about 'Yavin's going to need a new moon...' and we ain't seen him since...") or the fact that he just might tell Nancy Pelosi where to stick it live on national TV, I'm not seeing the potential for newsiness here.
