Yet another cheating sleazebag politician
"Yah. Of course the kid’s not his. He just goes to visit all the babies of his mistress’ in the middle of the night. What?"- Dawn Summers
"I think this President has shown a remarkable disrespect for his office, for the moral dimensions of leadership, for his friends, for his wife, for his precious daughter. It is breathtaking to me the level to which that disrespect has risen."- John Edwards on the Monica Lewinsky affair (via Hot Air).
"The innuendoes and lies that have appeared on the internet and in the National Enquirer concerning John Edwards are not true, completely unfounded and ridiculous. My video production company was hired by the Edwards camp on a 6 month contract, which we completed December 31, 2006. When working for the Edwards camp, my conduct as well as the conduct of my entire team was completely professional. This concocted story is just dirty politics and I want no part of it."- Rielle Hunter, October 11, 2006 , (via Hot Air).
"John Edwards' political appeal relied on a couple of things: his ability to get $400 haircuts while relatively convincingly playing the son-of-a-mill-worker concerned with economic inequality in America; and his ability to be a very attractive politician with a lovely but considered by some to be less-attractive wife with whom he seemed to have a healthy and affectionate relationship. What does he have now? A hippie pregnant mistress from whom, if she openly claims it's his child, he'll demand a paternity test? A mistress that he was (knowingly or not) "sharing" with his staffers while his wife was developing cancer? There's no way to come out ahead of this story, and prevaricating on the timing doesn't help."-Jezebel Posted by Karol at August 8, 2008 06:44 PM | TrackBack

Rielle Hunter is a heroine just as Mary Jo Kopechne was a heroine.
Both prevented a sex-crazed idiot from becoming President.
Posted by: Jake at August 8, 2008 08:40 PMAnd he'd still never make Olbermann's "worst person in the world" list.
Guess he'll just have to settle for being the biggest douche-bag in the world.
Posted by: Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg at August 8, 2008 09:07 PMAs someone pointed out elsewhere on the internet, this idiot could have been our VP as we speak.
Even worse, if Obama had named him as his VP say, back in May, this would've just blown up in his face. In many ways. As in, Harridan from Hope getting back up off the mat, screeching "You should've used the axe, Bambi!" and tearing his heart out at the convention.
What an utter and incomplete a**. What is it with powerful people checking their morals at the door?

Exactly, James. And very telling that all the lefty blogs reflexively roll out their standard "so what" montra. "He's a private citizen! He's not running for office! Wah! Wah! Wah!"
...ain't runin' 4 no damn office no mo', da' bitch ain't...
Posted by: Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg at August 8, 2008 09:53 PMAs Insty's been harping, the real story here is the way the big media outlets conspired to keep this under wraps so the rubes wouldn't be unduly influenced by Edwards' flagrant douchebagery.
I don't understand why. They weren't doing the Democrats any favors if Edwards had been tapped for VP and this whole thing blew up in October.
I guess Ann Coulter owes him an apology. Turns out he's hetero after all.
Posted by: Eric at August 9, 2008 12:53 AMDon't you know you're supposed to be protecting Elizabeth from this?!
Posted by: it's vintage, duh at August 9, 2008 03:11 AMI don't expect politicians to live to standards impossibly higher than anyone else. If you're an alcoholic (like W and many others), OK. Did drugs? Ok (so long as you have been stopped for a while). Had an affair? Admitting it is better IMO.
However, doing something and lying about it (Like Clinton and many others), not ok.
Unless your dying or ailing wife arranges some sort of way for you to get sex, it is not OK (and still it's unlikely to be ok with arrangement.
There have been many examples of shit-baggery from both parties in the USA, but this one makes it high up the list.
As to the covering up, it's gratifying to see some journalists are still prepared to do their jobs properly.
The real issue with this guy will not be remembered: the sleaziness of his legal career and the junk science he used to win cases. He's a total showman who then went to the Senate to do nothing but run for Prez. (Do I hear an echo?)
What I like best about this latest story, though, is how Edwards is now a nobody, a discarded snake oil medicine man.
..and a big F U and a HA HA to all those who would vote for him just for his appearance. Indeed. That's all there was to vote for.
Posted by: michael parker at August 9, 2008 02:07 PMHey! Where'd my comment go? :(

Yes the National Inquirer and NOBODY else. CBS didn't even forge documents to get the scoop.
Backed against the wall they finally release the obvious on a Friday afternoon (least watched news time - especially in Summer) when Osama Obama is on vacation (and for once not clogging the airwaves), right before the massive Olympics Opening Cermony, and minutes after Limbaugh goes off the air thus attempting to prevent his huge audience the much deserved ridicule.
Got another huge, brown floater for us?
