How stupid do they think we are?

Edwards ex-mistress refuses to DNA test her daughter

Dawn Summers writes:

And to think Edwards was all ready to take that test and prove he’s not the father…man, this is so unfair that Rielle is denying him that opportunity. So unfair. He’s just like the unluckiest politician since Gary Condit.

You know, you'd think cheating on your dying wife is the scummiest thing John Edwards could do. But denying his obvious child, well, it's like he's trying to outdo himself.

Well, technically it could _not_ be his. I get the impression that she wasn't exactly wanting for male attention.

Besides, she's just playing her part in the script. The woman's being well taken care of--what's the problem? ;)

I just love how people are acting like he should be left alone because he's no longer running. Riiiiigggghhhtttt. Now the press is turning on him like it's going out of style.

It could not be his but then why is he visiting that child in the middle of the night? And why was he "hopeful" he could get a paternity test? Wouldn't that be because he knew she was scripted to say he couldn't. Horrible. He is the lowest human alive.

I can't imagine any circumstance in which a woman would want proof that her child's parent was a multimillionaire. Not a one.

On the other, less sarcastic, hand ... if she knows it isn't his but he is unsure, denying a paternity test is a good idea for her, since it keeps in place whatever arrangement they've got for the kid's welfare.

In no scenario does Edwards get to speak at the convention. Seriously. He better not.

Edwards really made a big mistake trying to slather a new layer of lies on the old one. At this point who could believe anything he says? The baby 1) is certainly his and 2) was clearly conceived after his wife's cancer came out of remission.

But then again, was his "two Americas" patter any more credible?

I think he's lying because even he realizes knocking some woman up while your wife has cancer is the career killers of career killers.

You can claim that you were under stress, it was a one time thing, blah, blah, blah with the affair, but the fact that you shoved one of your staff in front of the rolling bus and potentially used campaign funds to pay off a woman because she was "meeting your needs"? Um, yeah, not only is that radioactive, it's the political equivalent of opening up an interdimensional portal to Hell, walking through it, then taking a dump on Satan's finest china.

The icing on the cake is that most people seem to genuinely like Elizabeth Edwards as a person.
