"You kind of hate to say it aloud, but, Obama is an empty suit and John McCain is liberal enough for me."

Yet another example of those "Americans are racist if they don't vote for Obama" articles from NY Mag:

On a short flight to New York recently, I was sitting behind two white, well-dressed twentysomethings chattering loudly and uninhibitedly about going to clubs and travel plans and the possibility of living in New Jersey. Then came the question: “So who are you voting for?”

“I was for Hillary, but now … I’m kind of undecided,” volunteered the first woman.

“Are you a Democrat?” asked the second.

“Yeah. But I think I might go with McCain. It’s just that, well, I don’t know. You know.” Her voice dropped. I leaned forward to hear better. “You kind of hate to say it aloud, but … ” Here her voice dropped again, to a murmur lost in the roar of the jet engines, and I missed whatever came next.

Let’s start with this concession: I have no idea what that young woman actually said. In a perfect world, I suppose that would be the end of the story and I would go back to minding my own business. In the context of contemporary political discourse, however, it did cross my mind that if this conversation were presented on one of those “finish the sentence” cultural-literacy tests, then pretty much every American, of whatever creed, color, or class, would have exactly the same guess as to how the woman completed her thought.

A vote against Barak is a vote for someone qualified but that's not nearly as incindiary as "we're all racists". If Dems really wanted to test that racist theory they should have offered up a qualified black guy vs. the one that says attractive things, has not one day of experience and offers up little more than his inherent "magical" quality as solvents. This guy is more than an empty suit, he's an empty candidate full of empty promises and rhetoric. Voting for him should get one branded an "idiot".

Posted by: Ari at August 11, 2008 12:48 PM

I'm falling in love with Ari.

BTW, I'm not voting for him because he's too white.

Posted by: Casca at August 11, 2008 03:58 PM

I'm having trouble understanding why the Republicans are banging on the 'inexperienced' drum. Wasn't the current president a one term Governor before ascending to the highest office? He seems to have done a good job, according to some circles. Wasn't Lincoln a one termer Representative before going on to become the greatest President we've had?

I would think competency as President is based much more on your political ideals, policies and the men and women surrounding you than a calendar count of how long you've been in public life.

P.S. I included Lincoln and Bush as 'one-termer' references not as a comparison to Obama directly, so don't give me any 'You're comparing him to LINOCLN?!?'.

Posted by: Jamie at August 11, 2008 06:01 PM

Bush was governor for a term and a half, 6 years, Obama has been Senator for 3 years, not even a full term. Plus, running a state as governor is much more challenging than being one of 100 senators.

Posted by: Karol at August 11, 2008 06:11 PM

I hear you, but I don't understand the logic. If the length of former public service translates to competency then Lincoln, a one term Representative, should be the least competent president ever and Jimmy Carter should be at least as well received as Bush was.

Surely, you can admit that there is far more to a President's success than their former experience would lead you to predict, right?

Posted by: Jamie at August 11, 2008 06:23 PM

Ari,

You seem like a very bright person, I'm sure you can come up with a better argument than vote for us or you're stoopit.

Jamie, So you figured out that everyone involved in politics are 2 faced liars. Yeah experience matters now because Senator Palpatine running on the Rep. ticket. 8 yrs ago...experience eh, not so much...Hmmmm Change ! Yeah that'll work..lol

Posted by: DanBama 08 at August 12, 2008 01:35 PM

Honestly, I can't tell you about Lincoln because I wasn't around for it. I can google up his experience and report back but what's the point?

GWB had been governor of one of our biggest states for 6 years. He was elected to that position when he beat a very popular sitting governor and then was re-elected by a wide margin. Barack Obama ran against a guy who had to drop out because his wife said he forced her to have sex with other people and then Republicans shipped in Alan Keyes, of all people, to run against Obama. He is just untested, simple as that. You know, Hillary said it best, he gave a great speech back in '04 and that about sums up his professional qualifications.

Posted by: Karol at August 12, 2008 01:52 PM

Danbama - If you think Obama is the messiah because he offers change then you have to want a guy who knows how to instill it - don't you? And more importantly - what sort of change is Barack offering us? Hitler was change. Stalin was change. That idiot Jimmy Carter was change.

What exactly is change?

Posted by: Ari at August 12, 2008 04:49 PM

Change meaning a bit more domestic focus (read spending), a bit more willingness to listen to international opinions (as tough as that is for Americans to swallow). I don't think Obama is the perfect candidate but I do think that the country needs a more domestic focused agenda for the next several years.

The change I was referring to in Jest, being used by the Obama camp is that whatever President Bush is doing we will rethink and perhaps do differently. Great platform if you as me sans the tax cuts.

No need to invoke religion or the most demonical people of all time, but I know it is a fav Con tactic of fear. I just think he's the better of 2 candidates for the country ATM. Ari please convince me otherwise I might even vote this year if you do a good job. Break my streak I have going, 4 presidential elections and counting....

I would like to use the argument tactic of us or your an idiot in arcessitum dictum:
"Obama can't be the Messiah, the Messiah already came and if you don't believe that you are an idiot or just stoopit.."

Dan, please do us intelligent people a favor and continue to refrain from voting. We already have enough idiots like you who cancel out our votes.

Had you paid attention instead of listening to the mainstream media's distortions, the (correct) accusations of "inexperience" go far beyond Obama's yet-uncompleted first term as a U.S. Senator. Going from "community organizer" to state office, and only in the last few years to the U.S. Senate, shows few accomplishments for a supposedly gifted man of his years. I'm two-thirds his age yet at 20 had a far greater, far more in-depth understanding of our Constitution than he and his baby mama ever had.

It's fundamentally about his raw inexperience in every way, which is demonstrated every time he tries to talk about foreign policy. Oh, he wants to act tough on terrorists? OK, so he'll "talk" with Iran and Syria, notwithstanding Muslims for 1400 years use "peace talks" as a stalling tactic, while regarding peace overtures as a sign of weakness. Then Obama wants to talk tough: he'd bomb Pakistan unilaterally, notwithstanding it would destabilize the government and lead to a pro-terrorist faction taking over and getting their hands on the nukes.

Such thinking demonstrates an immature grasp of foreign policy. So regardless of the "racism" accusation from this idiot I met at a Young Republicans social, I call Obama a "boy" and feel perfectly justified. It's not a racial slur, but because he's effectively a child. Even with all those advisors, his campaign can't formulate something that truly considers all possible consequences. Social Security? Oh, we'll just raise taxes. Raising the capital gains tax will decrease revenue? Oh, well, you see, it's not about revenue, but about fairness (in his warped sense of the word).

Jamie, you should read "The Real Lincoln" by Tom DiLorenzo. Aside from a couple of forgivable errors that don't change the thesis, it documents Lincoln's unprecented centralization of federal power, notwithstanding his unconstitutional suspension of habeas corpus. Liberals claim Bush is suppressing freedom of speech, which is baloney, but Lincoln had 300 newspaper editors thrown in jail.

Personal attacks and a reference to baby mama (btw I stopped reading ur post right about there) ho hum...More of the vote Republican or you're stupid argument..

Let me know if you find any intelligent voters that I can talk to Perry. You Sir are obviously not one of them.

Probably wouldn't call me an idiot to my face but then again the Internet is a beautiful place (now isn't it?). I just had the image of you getting your lunch money stolen as a kid and it formed your LT political views...lol..

Oh man did I read compliance in your Bio... LOL... Go count some beans and check my work, boy...

This is almost as much stress relief as running, I

Personal attacks and a reference to baby mama (btw I stopped reading ur post right about there) ho hum...More of the vote Republican or you're stupid argument..

Take a portion of Sun-Tzu's advice and know your opponent: I'm one of the libertarians around here. I'm voting for either Ron Paul (write-in) or Bob Barr.

Assuming I'm a knee-jerk Republican? Strike one.

Let me know if you find any intelligent voters that I can talk to Perry. You Sir are obviously not one of them.

Next time, put even a modicum of substance in your reply. And what the hell, do you think you're German in that you're capitalizing various nouns?

Strike two.

Probably wouldn't call me an idiot to my face but then again the Internet is a beautiful place (now isn't it?). I just had the image of you getting your lunch money stolen as a kid and it formed your LT political views...lol..

I would be more than delighted to meet you somewhere and call you an idiot to your face. Name the time and place. Or how about this: name the time and the place, give me sufficient provocation so I can be protected under statute (because there's no way I'll have you sue me for starting it), and I will be more than happy to introduce your face to the underside of the pavement.

It's actually idiots like you that reinforce my latent belief in libertarianism. People like you want to initiate force against others, because you're so uncompetitive otherwise in the real world with government doing everything for you. People like me respond with force to teach you a lesson, because that's how we dealt with bullies back in school.

As is the experience with most people, sure, there were people who tried, tried to bully me when we were all little. I made them sorry for it, and they're probably still sorry now.

Oh man did I read compliance in your Bio... LOL... Go count some beans and check my work, boy...

Just when we thought you were already as big a moron as could be! Even were I some bean counter, it's still better than being your occupation of some faggot prostitute, eh?

Actually, my job in compliance involves getting people disciplined for trading violations. You know that phrase about "up to and including termination"? At my employer, believe it. Not to mention I get paid quite well, probably shelling out double in taxes what you gross.

This is almost as much stress relief as running, I

Aww, what happened, can't keep a cohesive thought pattern for long? Did your lone neural synapse break down again?

Wow, I didn't even read this until today. Go get some help boy. It's like a stole a Cheeseburger out of your mouth or something.

Libertarian...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA...Keep votin' dumbass...

Meet me at the SE corner of Washington Square park today around 6:30. I'll look for the portly gentlemen with red suspenders and I'll be the guy with the big 2008 Obama sign in the form of a tax spike that's gonna get shoved up ur Libertarian ass.

Posted by: Dan at August 18, 2008 02:25 PM

And chubbs, I went to your blog. It sucks.

How's that for a complete thought.

Wow, I didn't even read this until today. Go get some help boy. It's like a stole a Cheeseburger out of your mouth or something.

Gee, kindergarten-level insults from you. Who'd have thought?

Who'd have thought you could read, anyway?

Libertarian...HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA...Keep votin' dumbass...

Yes, like modern libertarians, you scoff at the idea of individual freedom. You're so busy funding your own life by stealing from mine.

Oh, how you'll someday discover the consequences of your actions, measured 7.62 mm at a time.

Meet me at the SE corner of Washington Square park today around 6:30.

A cousin's in town, but I'll take a raincheck for tomorrow night. Then again, why should I waste my time? You'll cower in the shadows.

I'll look for the portly gentlemen with red suspenders

Then you won't see me at all, as that's not me.

and I'll be the guy with the big 2008 Obama sign in the form of a tax spike that's gonna get shoved up ur Libertarian ass.

Oh, and why do I have the feeling you'll jump me with about a dozen of your wetback buddies?

See, you're the kind of moron who I'll gladly shoot dead after you help elect Obama, and I'll have a clear conscience about it, as it'll be self-defense of my person and property.

And chubbs, I went to your blog. It sucks.

How's that for a complete thought.

Par for the course, from you. Tell you what: if you disagree with anything on my blog, feel free to comment. Comments are open, but I'll tear you down more than I have here.

You know, I'm starting to feel bad. What are you going to do, hang yourself so your mommy can blame me for cyber-bullying you? You're even more fun than our erstwhile resident weedhead...unless you're the same guy, too cowardly to repost under the same name!

Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at August 18, 2008 04:14 PM

Actually, I'll have to bump it back to Wednesday. Same time, same place. Since I have something at 7 not far away, this way you won't waste any of my time when you don't show up.

Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at August 19, 2008 09:37 AM

OMG, guys, you're not meeting to have a fight. The truth is you two would probably get along if you met. Crazy, I know, but true.

Posted by: Karol at August 19, 2008 10:53 AM

K, I don't get into fights with inferior beings like him. I'm also not a fool; he's probably just waiting for me to do something so he'll call a pig and/or sue me. My only intention is to show up, find he's not there, and prove he's the coward for not showing up.

Remember, it all started because he said this is online, yadda yadda, and I'd never have the balls to tell him whatever it was to his face. I have no problem with that. I also have no problem causing varying degrees of physical harm to people, but as a libertarian, I never initiate force. On the other hand, he insulted me regarding my mother...

I really doubt he and I would get along. I have friends of all different political persuasions, but the common denominator is that they can engage me in intelligent conversation, particularly by using words and phrases properly.

Tell you what, here's a more fun venue: the 230 Fifth bar, at...230 5th Ave. The Young Repubs (independent club) are having a social there tonight. I'm still at work for the next good while, but I'll be there after 7.

Just Saw this how funny...

As for Dan's "Wetback friends" no worries they would only laugh as you spit out bloody teeth.

Perry you love to talk about your guns and your money, are you sure your not a republican?? Possible it is your feelings of weakness that make you talk so bold of weapons and cash. Your so bright that when Dan talked of a focused domestic policy, your retort was how stoopid Obama was on 2 foreign policy points.(and to call him an idiot first) So if you are the brilliant constitutional expert why do your arguments deteriorate to I can't beat you up so maybe I'll use a gun. Use your brain then type something intelligent, or just shut up and let it go that somebody made fun of you again.

Posted by: M at August 21, 2008 09:52 AM

Well hello there, Dan's biatch! Or is he your biatch, and he came crying to you for help?

As for Dan's "Wetback friends" no worries they would only laugh as you spit out bloody teeth.

Thanks for proving my point, that liberals might talk big only know how to use superior numbers.

Anyway, superior numbers are why Smith & Wesson, Colt, Luger, Walther, etc., are great equalizers.

Perry you love to talk about your guns and your money

No, I talk about how I'm willing to defend with lethal force. Not initiate force, but to defend myself and others.

I also talk about money, period, because I happen to know how wealth is produced.

Your so bright

Now why should I consider the opinion of someone who makes such an egregious error?

that when Dan talked of a focused domestic policy, your retort was how stoopid Obama was on 2 foreign policy points.(and to call him an idiot first)

And it's certainly true that Obama is an idiot, on the United States' two major foreign policy issues today.

I'm still waiting for Dan's reply, btw. Care to make one for him?

So if you are the brilliant constitutional expert why do your arguments deteriorate to I can't beat you up so maybe I'll use a gun.

Since you share Dan's inability to comprehend the English language, I'll point out that he was the one who said I'd never call someone an idiot to his face, blah blah.

Use your brain then type something intelligent, or just shut up and let it go that somebody made fun of you again.

My advice: take your own advice. Now run back to the other kiddies, ok?

Oh P Ediddy you are to larf at...

Use some of that money to aquire chill pills, or a girl, because you sound stressed. Nobody is coming to harm you, so stop fondling the hollow points. I'm not voting for Obama nor am I a liberal.(reread Art of War) I just had to laugh when I saw how easily excitable you are and comment on your ridiculousness. If you don't like my grammer den go fuk yoself. I hope at some point that you develop the true substance of being a man, and don't build your foundation on your cash and gats. Dan would'nt beat you up because you don't warrant the effort, your barely worth the time of typing. So its here I stop.

Oh P Ediddy you are to larf at...

Good lord, you really should learn to spell. Maybe one day that'll help you get out from behind the fast food counter.

And what kind of ghetto reject are you, that you have to redo my name after that disgusting slime?

Use some of that money to aquire chill pills, or a girl, because you sound stressed.

Dan, you really shouldn't engage in sock puppetry. You're showing yourself here, particularly by projecting your own inadequacies on me.

Everyone gets stressed, anyway. It's all a matter of how you deal with it. Unlike most Americans, I don't dope myself up.

Now as a matter of fact, I have a beautiful soon-to-be-wife, thankyouverymuch. You have...I guess a dog. Rented from the pound every Friday night so you can get a piece of ass?

Nobody is coming to harm you, so stop fondling the hollow points. I'm not voting for Obama nor am I a liberal.

I never said you were. My only reference to Obama in my reply was that Dan failed to rebut my points.

(reread Art of War)

I just had to laugh when I saw how easily excitable you are and comment on your ridiculousness. If you don't like my grammer den go fuk yoself.

Now who's "easily excitable"? I, who's making rational arguments, or you, who can't string more than a few words in a cohesive fashion?

I hope at some point that you develop the true substance of being a man, and don't build your foundation on your cash and gats.

Which I don't, contrary to your self-delusions. Being a "man" is about righteous honor, and the courage to defend it.

Dan would'nt beat you up because you don't warrant the effort, your barely worth the time of typing. So its here I stop.

Well, the rest of us (except Dan) already could tell you're as much a waste of DNA as you are bandwidth...
