The lowest of the low

On Monday, or so, I wondered "so when exactly is that Edwards interview going to air?" Turns out, of course, it aired last Friday. I don't know how I missed it but I just caught a clip on Hot Air and it's pretty damn classic. Allah sums up:

As for Edwards’s performance, it’s vintage Silky. Turns out he didn’t just betray his wife, he betrayed the poor son of a country mill worker he really is at heart, his huge mansion and ego notwithstanding. He also heroically asked Elizabeth not to appear with him for the interview, because after a year of siphoning off Absolute Moral Authority from her illness to help his campaign, he suddenly decided it wouldn’t be right to use her as a “shield.” Tapping his heart and claiming she’s in there “all the time” even when she’s not physically present is an especially Silky touch considering that the whole reason so many of his supporters feel hurt by the news is because they’re no longer sure how true that is.

Yeah, simulcast on Friday evening at 8:00pm with the 2008 Olympic opening ceremonies was just a coincidence.

I tell ya', the Clintons may be 'slick', but Johnny-boy is SILKY.

It was pretty genius.

10 days to the Democratic national convention. And this isn't going to 'go away' in 10 days.

If I were Howard Dean, I'd make an office call on Silky Pony, and inform him to come completely clean with this whole mess immediately because, not only will he NEVER be a Democratic party candidate for ANYTHING again, he's possibly facing disbarment and felony charges. And if he doesn't, NO ONE in the Democratic party is going to defend his sorry ass.

Yeah, I read that, too. What a bizarre world all these people live in. Why am I so damn boring?

I wonder what she's thinking "in there" as he's having sexual congress with another woman. Maybe he only does it when she's sleeping.

You know, at what point does the man just realize the best thing he could do is STFU?

Or, alternatively, brazenly pony up. ("Yeah, I did it. Watched the woman suck a golfball through a 45-foot garden hose, realized I haven't had any loving since Elizabeth started her chemo, and just let all that acclaim go to my head. Er, bad choice of words there, huh?")

Because, seriously, not that adultery is really high on my list of "things that make me think you're a moral person," but committing adultery on your terminally ill wife has to be about 3 slots below serial killer in my book.

Anyone know if supporting a mistress using campaign finances is a federal offense? Who wouldn't like to see the FBI raiding some offices and carrying out everything not nailed down in the very near future? Besides Edwards and Fred Baron?

Fox news was talking about this. Basically the Feds can fine him for the amount of the campaign oversights and the IRS may be able to nuke him / her for tax evasion but that's about the extent of it.

Not that, you know, having the IRS after you is a small thing.

Awwwww. Insty says Clark was told by the Obama people he has "no role at the convention". What am I gonna do with all this popcorn?

I’ve often heard various folks comment on how wonderfully varied, complex and diverse the English language is, effortlessly welcoming foreign words and phrases ‘into the fold’. The depth of our language is sometimes described as a ‘bottomless reservoir’ of nuance.

I agreed with that sentiment, but no longer, thanks to John Edwards. I’ve been struggling the last two weeks for words to describe exactly how much of a douchebag he really is. And sadly, for the first time I find my native tongue wanting. The adjectives simply aren’t ‘there’ to accurately describe how much of a manipulative, calculating, reprehensible, scumbag, liar, phony, narcissistic, empty-suit, jackass he really is.

See that? My best effort to ‘capture’ the fundamental essence of John Edwards rings completely hollow. It's like calling the Grand Canyon a ‘really big ravine’. I would otherwise be embarrassed by my linguistic impotence, but I really don’t think it’s my fault. He has simply re-defined the boundaries of douche-baggery, shattering the power of words to define him. It is, in wierd sort of way, a mark of greatness. A legacy, if you will.
