Oh no!
The New York Sun is really gone!

There was a lot to recommend that paper. Not its batshit crazy editorial bias but its commitment to quality writing, dogged local coverage and an intelligent sports section. All rarities in newspapers these days.
But seriously: way crazy editorial slant.
Posted by: Charles at October 2, 2008 05:22 PMWell, I'm getting the WSJ instead now. I guess the WSJ bought the subscriber list and is running a promo.
What is really distressing is that the NY SUn actually achieved a subscriber base close to that of Westchester's Gannett paper, but still could not reach break even. Not enough advertising. However, their editorials were well-reasoned and backed up by facts, unlike the NYT.

What pisses me off about this-and I recognize that this is a petty quibble-is that the slack-jawed cretins and rancid anti-Semites at The Gawker are overjoyed by this development.
Rest assured, Ira Stoll and Seth Lipsky will land on their feet, nimrods
Personally, think they should try taking back The Forward from socialist, peacenik hacks who currently edit it.
The Sun had, among other things, the best sports section ever.
Posted by: someone at October 3, 2008 01:33 AMIt has to be hard to start up a NYC daily at a time in history when the physical newspaper is disappearing.
