Palin!
I thought she was solid and she remains, by far, my favorite person in politics in some time. Sidenote: how big of a crush does Joe Biden have on her? He was giggling!

she had her moments, but she avoided some questions...only way they're winning is if something crazy happens.
Huck/Jindal 2012!!!
Posted by: Larry at October 3, 2008 10:12 AMShe got Biden so flustered that he continually made up facts. One news outlet counted 14 errors of fact.
It is obvious that Biden should be replaced as soon as possible.
Posted by: Jake at October 3, 2008 10:37 AMWhat did everyone think of all the "aww shucks" and "gosh darns" and "gee willigers"? I ask this honestly, cause I don't have a good sense of how this will ply in middle America.
I ask this honestly since I'm a Jewish professional blogger, who lives in Brooklyn, after moving here from The People's Republic of Austin, TX. -- In short, I'm the definition of east coast elite. So the fact that she didn't win me over with that stuff basically means nothing.
I still wish Huck had won. I love the idea of Huck and Jindal too!
Posted by: Joseph Weisenthal at October 3, 2008 10:44 AMhahahaaha, Jake funny. The only way Biden gets replaced is if he dies. And then I'm saying keith Olbermann, baby!!!!
Posted by: Not Dawn Summers at October 3, 2008 10:57 AMThe only way Biden gets replaced is if he dies.
After his remark about being in the same room with Obama, helping craft policy, it indicates that Obama would indeed be "one heartbeat away from the Presidency."
I ask this honestly, cause I don't have a good sense of how this will ply in middle America.
She reminds me of many of the people from my home state of Minnesota. She doesn't need to tell me how she hangs out at the Home Depot for me to believe she's "of the people." Plus, she kills her own food. How awesome is that?
Posted by: Fallen Sparrow at October 3, 2008 11:39 AM"She doesn't need to tell me how she hangs out at the Home Depot for me to believe she's "of the people.""
Then why does she (and her fans) always repeat that? Do Joe Six-Packs really say that phrase so much?
Agreed on Biden: Fraud.
Posted by: Joe Weisenthal at October 3, 2008 11:48 AMJoe,
"Of the people" is all she really has. I like her, I think she's witty, a firecracker and she'll work hard for America but she's not really qualified for the VP spot let alone to take over the helm. That being said, I think Obama fits the same description and he's at the top of the ticket.
I see it as an election of little choice, akin to the last few.
Posted by: Dan at October 3, 2008 12:33 PMBiden doesn't have a crush on Palin. He was "giggling" because he simply couldn't believe the nonsense that was coming out of her mouth. The majority of Americans were laughing--at her.
klem
Posted by: klem at October 3, 2008 01:51 PMKeep deluding yourself, klem. If anything, Biden was giggling that she didn't seize the opportunity to debunk his lies.
She's still a great choice for McCain, someone most Americans can feel comfortable with, someone who'll siphon votes from Hillary supports upset enough with Obama. But she's so disappointed me. She could have easily pinned Biden on certain things, instead of populist pandering. Things like the nature of corporate taxation (that it's merely passed on to consumers), "fairness" being B.S. when regular folks work at oil companies too, the fact that Obama HAS called for universal health care, and the fact that approving drilling now will help prices fall immediately (actual supply doesn't have to increase right away, because current prices reflect future supply as well as in the present).
Of course, Biden's wrong on...everything. He was smooth, certainly. So smooth, he's slick like Bubba in '92 and '96. Promise the world and let the voters follow you like good lemmings.
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at October 3, 2008 03:43 PMPerry - thanks, that is exactly what I thought yesterday. I'm surprised at people saying she was golden: she would be at the quiter times. Not when socialists are on coordinated attack.
Posted by: Tatyana at October 3, 2008 03:49 PMShe's no Ayn Rand.
Posted by: E. at October 3, 2008 06:43 PMI agree on the need to attack socialist/populism more. I was out with friends last night, mainly conservative/libertarian types. And none of them could name a single conservative/limited government point that she made -- other than the paying taxes isn't patriotic line, which was pretty easy.
Posted by: Joe Weisenthal at October 4, 2008 12:33 PMYou people are just kidding yourselves. Palin is an embarrassment to America. She didn't make one point about conservative limited government because she doesn't know how to.
Posted by: John at October 6, 2008 12:02 PMShe did better than I expected, but there were no killer blows. Biden cleverly left Palin's criticism of his age (because it works on McCain too), and got in a couple of sly digs. I can't see either person causing any undecided voters to go their way. Shame.
Posted by: bryan at October 7, 2008 08:58 AMJohn, it's true Palin is hardly a believer in limited government (tax cuts alone don't make one so). But if she's an embarrassment, then what do you call Biden? Obama? Pelosi? Reid? The Clintons?
Well, the rest of the world loves those Dems, because such leadership shows the American people embrace the socialist UN-capitulation that the rest of the world loves.
