Not-so-random thought

Have brides before me realized that the real reason the groom is not supposed to see you in your wedding gown is because no man wants to deal with the shopping and fittings?

You should read my blog sometime. It's illuminating.

Hahahaha.

It's probably the most annoying shopping you can embark.

I think it goes back to the days of arranged marriages where the groom did not see the face of the bride until after the marriage ceremony was performed.

More importantly - do you really want him to see your wedding gown before teh Day?
Wouldn't it cut on a "wow" factor?

I took mine shopping for hers. I can't say it cut down on the "wow" factor, but I can definitely say,

HOLY FRICK, YES IT WAS INCREDIBLY ANNOYING.

Just buy a nice looking evening gown that you can wear again and be done with it.

Come now...no one's told you the real reason the groom doesn't go to the fittings? Um, hello, after several hours at the hairdresser's, makeup place, and getting put into a hot, uncomfortable dress, you want your payoff. Know what that is? The man you're spending the rest of your life with drooling uncontrollably as he watches you make that left turn and coming up the aisle, with a look on his face that lets you know he's only thinking of one thing, and it's not the cake topper.

Now you tell me, you think you're getting this effect if he sees you in the dress 40 times beforehand? Um, no.

(And yes, for the record, I am speaking from experience.)

Feel free to share with the IC so he doesn't screw this up. ;) Also make sure your photographer gets a shot of his face when the time comes.

Um....I posted the comment I e-mailed you earlier and it's still not posted.

have you seen 'say yes to the dress' on tlc? i hate when the grooms accompany the brides to shop for the dress. i always assume the guys are in the closet gay dudes.

Or, you know, accountants.

Not the same thing, really. If you're spending our seed money on a dress you're only ever gonna use once, it had better be a damned fine dress.

Either that, or the shop had better 'buy' it back for half the price. My SIL did that deal, which I thought was pretty sweet.
