Weighty
I clicked on an AOL headline titled "Why Most Women Wear 'Plus' Size." I don't know what I was expecting them to say but I suppose I was thinking it was something along the lines of "women are wearing the wrong size" or "women prefer clothing that runs bigger". But no, the conclusion of the article really is "because they're fat." I do like that they call my size 8 "svelte" because in NYC ummm, it would be an understatement to say it's not considered svelte.

This is why you need to move to someplace other than NYC!
Posted by: James at October 12, 2008 01:16 AMNYC contains magnitudes. Of sizes, as of opinions what "svelte" is. Depends on a distance from UWS.
Posted by: Tatyana at October 12, 2008 08:23 AMMy comment has been preempted by the proprietress of this blog.
Posted by: Oschisms at October 12, 2008 10:28 AMWhat, you didn't know that most women don't fit the requirements for a "good looking woman" according to the media and fashion industries?
The "standard size" for a woman has decreased over the past two decades. How else are they going to make women feel bad so that they buy their products to feel better about themselves?
Posted by: Pokerwolf at October 12, 2008 10:38 AMHaha, I hope it didn't come off like I was feeling sorry for myself. A conversation from a few days ago about when I was 40 pound heavier:
"I don't know why, but I was more confident when I was fatter."-Me
"Really/ Because you seem REALLY confident now."-My friend Y
"She was always very confident."-My friend B
"So you were like 'arrogant' then"- Y
:-)
I really, truly think that how you feel about yourself as a woman is directly related to how much TV you watch and how many US Weekly type magazines you read.
And Tatyana, I was actually thinking the other day that I bet the UWS is the fattest part of the city.
And Oschism, I would NEVER preempt you commenting.
Posted by: Karol at October 12, 2008 11:00 AMReally? Gee, things changed since I stopped by...or, as Carrie Bradshaw would claim - those women are all out of town!
Posted by: Tatyana at October 12, 2008 11:29 AMAlso - my 1st comment should be tempered with a disclaimer ...UWS or any part of town with model agencies,/i>
One of which had moved into our office building; now I periodically share the elevator with underfed raccoon-eyed girls twice my height and half my weight, swaying on their spaghetti legs...
Posted by: Tatyana at October 12, 2008 11:32 AM*shudder* I'm sorry, but having done the "Wow, your clavicle is piercing my chest"-relationship, I'd never go back. I look at what passes for "beautiful" in Hollywood these days and wonder what future generats will think of our depraved society.
Posted by: James at October 12, 2008 11:53 AMYes, move someplace other than NYC! Hey and get me James' phone number.
Posted by: Not Dawn Summers at October 12, 2008 01:51 PMJames's phone number is 1-800-already-taken.
Even if you were ready to fight the Thunderdome match with the Mrs. (I'd advise against it--she's crazier than I am), I'm really d*mn fond of her. ;)
