Did they mean "best white rapper alive"?

Alternate title: "Is Jay-Z dead?"

Eminem Wins Vibe Magazine's Best Rapper Alive Competition

I love me some Eminem, don't get me wrong, but his last album, Encore, was a-crap and he hasn't put out anything since then. That was 2004, before George W. Bush was re-elected. He sat out Bush's second term completely!

This reminds me of Fethullah Gülen winning that global poll asking respondents who the world's top public intellectual is. Only, this time it wasn't crazy, Turkish Moslem fanatics spamming the poll, but Vibe editors.

What? I defy you to name a higher public intellectual than Fethullah Gülen! Defy! See? Can't do it now can you? I rest my case.

How come they did not choose from the myriad of outstanding new Hip Hop artists? Bringing me to the question, can TI give you anything you like from jail?...

They did. Or is Eminem considered "old-school" now?

Posted by: Karol at October 14, 2008 10:21 AM

Your post mentioned that he hasn't put an album out in 4 years. He has been making albums for 12 years. I'm not claiming him to be "old school" I'm just saying if hip hop is so good at this moment why is the 2008 poll giving the title to someone who has not put a good album out in 6 years?! Still you can love whatever you like, just sayn...

Four years ago you were saying the same "new rap sucks" that you say today. Flip. Flop.

Posted by: Karol at October 14, 2008 12:04 PM

If Ive been saying the same thing for 4 years there is neither flip, nor flop.????
Same Mother F%#ker that I ever was!

good music is good music and if you find me a song in popular hip hop today that is slamming, I will like it. Just aren't that many, and I think most people that have listened to music for a while will agree. It's not the fact that its new that bothers me and it is certainly not, ooh i'm 32 and not 28, as you would like to believe. So Producer K turn me on to some good shit, or admit that Vibe magazine thinks like I do.

Best Album: Dr. Dre 2001.

Also, I'm not a big Eminem fan... but at least they didn't pick lil wayne.
