Oh and one more thing...

Racism is over! How awesome is that?! Never again will anyone have to be lectured on overt or covert or any other kind of racism. No more Al Sharpton or Jesse Jackson. America elected a half-black guy! We have totally overcome all of our racially problematic history. Go us!

The first spam comment this morning was from my troll de jur, to this post, and it read: "Stupid racist!"

Posted by: Tatyana at November 5, 2008 01:05 PM

I don't know about Racism being over in the U.S. today. However, electing 42 other black/half black presidents in a row will definitely do it. No doubt.

Posted by: KJ at November 5, 2008 01:07 PM

Did you explain that racism is over?

Posted by: Karol at November 5, 2008 01:07 PM

Nope, KJ, racism is done. If Obama lost, it would've meant we were racists. Since he won, we're not! It's pretty awesome.

Posted by: Karol at November 5, 2008 01:10 PM

I don't feed trolls.
Your logic will not work on libs, I'm afraid. Since they are sure that it's them that won, and us [racists] lost.
It'll be the same when their President-Elect will screw up the economy - it still will be BushChimpHitler fault somehow. These people aren't trained to assume responsibility, for anything.

Posted by: Tatyana at November 5, 2008 01:20 PM

so when huckabee picks michael steele as his VP in 2012, we can't be accused of being racists for voting obama out of office.

Posted by: Larry at November 5, 2008 01:34 PM

I know, it's so great! The first thing that happened to me after the End of Racism was that a white MIT professor walked up to me and "congratulated" me on my historic victory. I was wearing McCain, Palin, and Reagan pins and stickers. I looked at him sideways...

Posted by: Claudio at November 5, 2008 01:48 PM

What's wrong with 'sexy'?

Posted by: Nigel Tufnel at November 5, 2008 01:55 PM

the best was I heard a sheep in my office declare "finally 400 years of damage is undone!!" - as if there were a black guy running every cycle. The stupidity knows no bounds.

It boils down to the facts that I no longer have to listen to asses drone on about hating Bush, how America hates blacks or what a terrible country we have. People get ready, Jesus has arrived.

Posted by: Ari at November 5, 2008 02:10 PM

Larry, Steele would be dismissed as a traitor to his "race." Proving our point once again: just who is bringing up race?

Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at November 5, 2008 02:18 PM

to be quite honest, I'm alot more worried about the latino vote going democratic then the black vote.

Posted by: Larry at November 5, 2008 02:27 PM

Dawn can no longer write blog entries on how she was badly treated because of racism. She will have to blame sexism instead.

It is obvious that sexism is rampant in this country because Palin lost.

I had the under for the bitching from conservatives to start 18 hours after the announcement.

Smart bet on my part.

I'm going to translate/summarise an amusing post in my LJ friends band.

H. is a college physics professor; she had an exam planned for today that students knew in advance. This morning she recieved an e-mail from one of her Afr-Am students that -roughly-read: Dear Professor!Yesterday at 11pm we all became witnesses to the Historic Event - election of first BLACK MAN as President (caps in original)We have been waiting for this moment 400 years (hmm, those 400 years again-T) - I'm crying in extasy of joy right now. We, Afr-Am students, deserved with all our lives this Change. Therefore, you need to mark this moment in History, cancel the exam and let us celebrate election of the 1st BLACK PRESIDENT!"

Professor, being schooled in the Great Demagoguery Lip-Service Sciences of former Soviet Union (that naive American amateurs have no idea, I tell you, no idea of -T) delivered the following speech - before administering the exam as planned.

-Dear students! I want to congratulate you all with Barack Obama's victory. It was indeed, a historic moment. Now all of you, young people, are delivered a new role model: young, energetic, motivated and smart President-Elect. Change begins with you. Dear students! Let's celebrate this new era by brillliantly passing this exam. Remember: since yesterday it is no longer fashionable to be an uneducated mediocrity. The future is for the smart and motivated!"

She's got an ovation.

Posted by: Tatyana at November 5, 2008 03:20 PM

uneducated mediocrity = (you guessed it) racism!

Posted by: Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg at November 5, 2008 04:07 PM

She didn't mention any colors or patterns in her speech. Not black, nor white, and not even plaid or stripe.
Maybe it'll teach them something...

Posted by: Tatyana at November 5, 2008 04:11 PM

Hah, Tatyana, tell her not to teach her grandmother to suck eggs. She probably just didn't know that "futre time orientation" is racist

Posted by: Eric at November 5, 2008 05:25 PM

Dawn can no longer write blog entries on how she was badly treated because of racism.

Yes I can! Obama '12.

Posted by: nds at November 5, 2008 05:47 PM

Eric: it was just a warm-up. And she instantly became a hit with her fellow professors: some had actually asked her to write down her "address", so they can use it as "motivational speech".

To summarize "Waaaah! our guy lost!"

To summarize "Waaaah! our guy lost!"

I guess that's what you're waiting for us to say but no one in this comment section, or in my life, is saying anything near that. Sorry we're not meeting your whiny expectations, I guess you expected us to be like the Democrats in '00 and '04.

Posted by: Karol at November 6, 2008 10:12 AM

Valid worry, Larry. It looks like it already started this election cycle, even despite McCain's amnestyism (whatever you wish to call it).

Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at November 6, 2008 01:13 PM

Karol, respectfully, this post's whole tone smacks of sour grapes. Your post about picking up the pieces and examining how brand republican can re-sell itself and get elected was much better. Sniping at peoples hopes (overblown though they seem) is just silly.
