I'm so proud of you.

Sorry I can't say that I am of you. But don't worry, some day you'll learn to read! Someday!

On TV, they are always having list shows. For example, a few years back I saw one for the funniest comedy sketch. A really dull one from the newest show (Little Britain) won, and Monty Python's Dead parrot sketch came second. De Bono called this the recency effect, I think. I think that, when compiling these sort of lists, anything from the past year is only weighted 10%, the second year back 20% and so on, and that way you don't have the most recent thing topping the chart. I did think this was a clever article.

Ah well, anyone who hasn't lived through 18% interest rates, double digit inflation, and 15% unemployment probably lacks the perspective to make such a judgment.

Casca,

I don't need to have a medical degree or been in attendance at a botched surgery to have the "perspective" to know that a doctor who sliced off the wrong leg has f-ed up. Just sayin'.
That being said, I've resolved to give it 8 years or so before I solidify my belief that the current Chief Executive royally screwed the pooch. I have my reasons, but I also realize that many of them may be colored by the immediacy of experience that Bryan has spoken of.

I have no fucking idea what the addled detritus of what was once an empire is blithering about. You however damage your jejune case with overwrought emotionalism. You should avoid speaking or attempting to think about this issue until they start putting a knife at your place setting again.

I'll translate.
He say's that you are a graceless fucking mongoliod with the talent and wit of a recently laid dog turd.

Don't shoot the messenger.

While not as bad as Carter or Nixon, W. will rank in the bottom 10 presidents for sometime to come. Now granted part of that is going to be the leftist bias of the historical profession (see Harding who really deserves a lot better) but part of it must rest on W. and his team. Would anyone have guessed that well over 7 years after 9/11 bin Laden would still be on the loose? I keep thinking of boxing matches when the losing fighter storms out of the ring and back to the shower. "I'm the decider....I'm the decider..." Sure you are champ. Sure you are. Bin Laden is still a factor and W is hurling into the dustbin of history. Next.

Overwrought emotionalism? Casca, if that's what passes for "overwrought" in your world then I'm thinking simply going to the store must be a life-altering experience for you.

As I said--in 4-8 years, when there's a chance to gain perspective, we'll see where Bush stands. If for no other reason than Bill Clinton managed to basically disgrace the office, set up many of the issues that plague us today, lose his party control of Congress, _and_ get impeached I'm willing to say that Bush can rest easy history's not going to say he's the worst President ever.

However, depending on how Iraq, Afghanistan, and the larger GWOT turn out he's probably going to be looking at a room in the James Buchanan rather than Abraham Lincoln wing of the Presidential pantheon.

Oh, well, that I agree with. Excepting that much like GWI suffered for the incompetence of the Clintonistas, current day Iraq will be undone by Obamacles. He is an incompetent naif, and the Iranians will have their way with him.

Casca, GFY, my point was very simple: people will always vote for the latest thing in any poll ending with "of all time" (or some such), and consequently this skews the results. Got that? No wonder you were in the Marines! It's tough when you are a bit hard of thinking.
PS, you know nothing about me, and that British Empire dig proved it. Sad.
