Al Franken is trying to steal the election

Start caring.

Just a hunch, but I don't think he's challenging that ballot so that Coleman's won't count. That vote was likely not picked up the machines -- an undervote. Franken, by virtue of the demographics of his voters, is going to have a lot more undervotes than Coleman. I suspect Franken wants to have a ruling that the vote does count for precedential purposes in hand when the recount gets to hennepin county and the other big counties where we know there are a lot more votes that were not counted by the optical scanners. (Again just a hunch, but no more speculative than the supposition that he's trying to steal the election.)

Yep, Franken alone is trying to steal the election. Coleman isn't even participating in the reco...

Coleman has thus far challenged 115 ballots and Franken 106. However, based on local reports, many or perhaps most of the challenges are frivolous, and are unlikely to be upheld upon review.

I assume that (a) the argument Franken's people are making is that the person filled in Coleman and then crossed it out; (b) Franken will lose this challenge unless (c) the votes for President, House and dogcatcher are all perfectly executed. And even if (c), I'd bet on that vote remaining in Coleman's column.

Again, I note that you are just plain silly sometimes.

It should also be noted that in MN, challenged ballots aren't discarded, they are reviewed by the Canvassing Board [December 5, by the way]. If you don't believe that independent review works, then, well you should be an anarchist.

Of course he's trying to steal the election. He's a democrat, a member of the criminal party. You never hear about Republican poll workers finding extra ballots in the trunk of their car.

I saw the Minnesota Public Radio piece before this, with all the challenged ballots, and so I'm less inclined to take the perspective.

I also don't see any problem with challenging ballots of people who can't follow the rules. If you believe that there should be strict enforcement of residency requirements, registration requirements, ID requirements, etc., it's really of the same piece that a person should be compos mentis enough to bubble in an optical circle correctly or not have his vote counted. It's like bringing ID to the polling place; if you're too stupid not to do it, you don't deserve to have a vote.

Meh. Congress can't get any more ridiculous. Granted, Stevens is gone, but Cold Cash Jefferson is still there, as well as Jack Murtha. Then there's real-estate geniuses Obama and Reid. I just hope Franken is a better Senator than he is a comedian.

Mark my words. We'll get a horse in there soon.

Mark my words. We'll get a horse in there soon.

We should be so lucky.

Yeah, hope MN gets an entire horse one day as opposed to the horses' asses of the Dumb F'n Liberal party.... MN is the state where the legislature had to pass a law to force Human Services libs from continuing to fund sex change operations with public funds.. Although not an MD, I offered to perform the first half of the process on any of the male loser perverts for free...offer is good for Franken too if he decides to become Frankie...
