“British Muslims Fear Repercussions Over Tomorrow’s Train Bombing.”
Over at the home of Pretty Numbers last week, she said she's heard people ask, in the wake of the Mumbai massacre, "what did the Indians do to deserve this?" I laughed and then we imitated Michael Moore asking why the 9/11 hijackers would attack NY and DC when those places didn't vote for Bush! Some people just don't get it.
But the truth is, most of the people in my life do get it, or at least pretend to when around me. They know the Mumbai attacks weren't about Bush, and they weren't even about border disputes with India. They were about a radical, and growing, sect of Islam that wants to kill us all. Period. End of story. You can be sure they want to kill you, white Christian infidel, or worse-- white Atheist infidel-- but, being Jewish, they definitely and specifically want to kill me.
So, who is still blind to the here, queer, get used to it Islamist threat? Well, the NY Times, of course! They wrote:
“It is not known if the Jewish center was strategically chosen, or if it was an accidental hostage scene.”
Yep, no idea, might be a total coincidence.
Mark Steyn has, of course, the ultimate piece on the whole situation:
In a well-planned attack on iconic Bombay landmarks symbolizing great power and wealth, the “militants” nevertheless found time to divert 20 percent of their manpower to torturing and killing a handful of obscure Jews helping the city’s poor in a nondescript building. If they were just “teenage gunmen” or “militants” in the cause of Kashmir, engaged in a more or less conventional territorial dispute with India, why kill the only rabbi in Bombay? Dennis Prager got to the absurdity of it when he invited his readers to imagine Basque separatists attacking Madrid: “Would the terrorists take time out to murder all those in the Madrid Chabad House? The idea is ludicrous.”And yet we take it for granted that Pakistani “militants” in a long-running border dispute with India would take time out of their hectic schedule to kill Jews. In going to ever more baroque lengths to avoid saying “Islamic” or “Muslim” or “terrorist,” we have somehow managed to internalize the pathologies of these men.
As always, read his whole piece. Every word. And be afraid, be very, very afraid that there are many around us who would rather pretend there is no threat than hurt someone's feelings.

India has been bearing the brunt of Islamist attacks for years - there have been over 200 deaths in Mumbai alone during the last two years, and I think over 2000 in India as a whole during the last three years - this seems to have bypassed the attention of many in the U.S.
It's curious then that brown, largely Hindu, Indians has not made your list.
The Mumbai killings were marked out by the apparent targetting of other groups, but at the end the vast majority of victims were Indian.
Can I ask what your post headline has to do with Mumbai?

It has bypassed the attention of most of the world, especially the Western media.
The worldwide media is paying attention to the Mumbai attacks because this attack has provoked a confrontation between two nuclear armed nation-states. Most media sources and most governments were willing to tolerate terrorist attacks against civilians, because these attacks didn't threaten their income or their power. A nuclear-armed confrontation threatens everyone.
If India doesn't respond to these attacks, they run the risk of being targeted again. Pakistan is accustomed to getting away with murder, and this will encourage them to continue. Hopefully, India and her allies will respond by targeting and dismantling Markaz Da’wa wal-Irshad (MDI), Lashkar-e-Taiba's “Centre for Religious Learning and Social Welfare”, the leaders of the charities that fund these terrorist groups and Pakistani intelligence, which is responsible for training and supporting the Taliban and Lashkar-e-Taiba.
