Why wedding planning is making me crazy
We finally narrowed our search down to the Cayman Islands. We had been there last year and found it spectacularly beautiful as well as having some of the best food we'd ever eaten. And then:
"You should know that there is no live music permitted for events on Sundays in the Cayman Islands so if you had envisioned having a band or DJ with dancing at your wedding, you may wish to move the wedding to the Saturday."
Except, of course, two Jews can only get married after sundown on Saturday and what's the point of having a beach ceremony if it's in the dark? Gah.
I'm sorry, I'd save my bitching for Facebook or Twitter but I needed more than 140 characters to get this off my chest.

Destination weddings are so pre-mortgage meltdown.
Posted by: Casca at December 8, 2008 02:22 PMPrices have gone down 15-20% since we first started looking at locations. If there was ever a time to have a destination wedding, it's now.
Posted by: Karol at December 8, 2008 02:30 PMVent all you want, we understand, believe me. Been there.
On the other hand - at least you're not flying anywhere on Chezch(sp?) airline. Someone just posted about it, how they bought tickets to Tel-Aviv on airline Co's website, got to the airport only to be told they don't make flights on Saturdays. But you sold us tickets? Oh, it's a glitch in site design, we don't care. Luckily Delta is their international partner, so they did got a plane seat on Sat.
Forinners, what do you expect!
Whoa. Deja vu.
Posted by: Charles at December 8, 2008 03:35 PMOh, Puddin', I know it can be tough deciding which amazing tropical island to get married on.
Certainly not the one that doesn't allow music on Sundays. Appalling and I won't hear of it.
Posted by: Tkey at December 8, 2008 04:03 PMWait, so what'd you do about your problem, Charles?
Posted by: Karol at December 8, 2008 04:03 PMIt is hard, Tkey! And it takes up so much freaking time!
Posted by: Karol at December 8, 2008 04:10 PMThat's good news that you have narrowed the search to some extent. Hang in there, it will work itself out.
Posted by: Von Bek at December 8, 2008 04:17 PMI'd love to volunteer some of my time. It's slow for me during the holidays so I spend a good deal of it on the couch doing nothing. I'd love nothing more than to offer my services as an event planner to help you out. Ginter can help, too.
In fact, just turn the reins over to us. I promise an event you will never forget.
Posted by: Tkey at December 8, 2008 04:17 PMI have been at events where they fill the beach area with torches and have dinner at night at the beach.
It sure make everything look romantic especially with the fire reflecting off of the water.
Take the wedding pictures before the sun sets and have the wedding after sunset. It will work.
Posted by: Jake at December 8, 2008 05:40 PMDon't worry, everything will be fine. You two love each other and (not to sound all after school special) that's really all you need.

Karol, you sound like all the brokers.
Posted by: Casca at December 8, 2008 11:56 PMAs far as I am concerned, wedding planning is so overwhelming. I am so glad I am already married and all the planning is behind me. Good luck!
Posted by: Lafemmenikita at December 9, 2008 03:27 PMI was thinking the same thing as "Jake" - sunset and tiki torches would be lovely.
Posted by: Tae at December 9, 2008 08:24 PMStill loving that government that says how and when you can marry?

why does that have an ominous ring to it to me?
