That's fierce
The Obama presidency is already completely awesome and he hasn't even been sworn in yet. Rick Warren to give the invocation at the inauguration? Amazing!
President-elect Barack Obama this morning defended his choice of evangelical megapastor Rick Warren to deliver the invocation at next month's swearing-in, saying that while he differs with the conservative pastor on social issues, he wants to have diverse voices at the ceremony."I am a fierce advocate of equality for gay and lesbian Americans. It is something that I have been consistent on and something that I intend to continue to be consistent on in my presidency," Obama said.
Actually, Barack Obama opposes gay marriage. Just like Rick Warren. So really either they're both fierce advocates of equality for gay and lesbian Americans or they both aren't all that fierce in their advocacy for gay and lesbian Americans.

Obama may "personally oppose" gay marriage, but only in the same way that Ted Kennedy "personally opposes" abortion yet supports abortion rights. Obama-Biden actually opposed Proposition 8, and Michelle Obama spoke out against the Defense of Marriage Act.
Posted by: KS at December 18, 2008 05:59 PMTed Kennedy may be "personally" pro-life but he is politically pro-choice. So, yes, I'm sure he'll never have an abortion but he has promised in his campaigns to take the pro-choice position in his voting. And, yes, Obama will probably never marry a gay man but in his campaign he has said he opposes gay marriage and liberals put their fingers in their ears and said "lalalala". Maybe in his heart he supports gay marriage, but good luck to him if his heart dictates his politics.
Posted by: Karol at December 18, 2008 06:45 PMObama said he was for gay marriage, but against Prop 8 because he didn't want to see the California constitution amended. (He didn't mind having four judges overrule the will of the California people.)
Just like every other issue that's been a question mark, he has played both sides of the fence, depending upon to whom he is speaking.

Posted by: Jake at December 18, 2008 10:54 PMRev. Lowery is the other half of the pastor team and he supports gay marriage, gay clergy, etc.

Rev. Lowery is just like Rev.Wright, but without the sermon tapes to drive his nuttiness home.
