Oh, and also

SUCKERS:

The Human Rights Campaign sent a blistering letter to Obama (D) in which it called the choice of Warren "a genuine blow" to gay Americans, who supported Obama overwhelmingly in his race against Republican nominee John McCain.

The letter noted Warren's vocal support of California's Proposition 8, a ballot measure banning gay marriage in the state that was approved by California voters last month. "By inviting Rick Warren to your inauguration, you have tarnished the view that gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender Americans have a place at your table," the letter said.

gay Americans, who supported Obama overwhelmingly

Even though he specifically stated that he opposed gay marriage. As did his running mate. As did John Kerry and Al Gore (in 2000, when his opinion mattered -- kinda) and most Democrat candidates before them.

I have never understood that. I mean, you have to support someone, I guess, but why act surprised when they treat you exactly like the second class they said they would?

And, that'll teach me to read the posts in backward order...

What's additionally funny to me is that if McCain would've won he would've picked some nondenominational, noncontroversial, vanilla pastor. And gay rights groups would've found a reason to hate him anyway.

I have a question. Why are gay activists only blaming Mormons and Rick Warren for the failure of Prop 8?

Why haven't any of them had the balls to take their grievance to the majority of Black and Hispanic voters that voted overwhelmingly for Prop 8?

And, for Heaven's sake... what "place at the table" are they talking about? I've asked every gay person I know what the Democatic party has ever done for them, and they have no specific answer. They just believe the "Republican party" as a whole are prejudiced against them as a group. Even though they all have Republican friends, other than just me.

It's quite baffling.

Lack of imagination?

You'd think, that they would be used to taking it in the ass by now.

Posted by: Casca at December 19, 2008 02:12 AM

Oh come on, we all know the reasons they're not protesting in black neighborhoods: It's one thing to intimidate some old Mormon lady and the restaurant that employs her. It's quite another to try and intimidate the upstanding denizens of Watts, Compton, and East L.A..

"We...we...*sob*...we'd just unfurled the rainbow banner when all the sudden there was this hurl of gunfire..."

"Um, you idiots have heard the phrase _gang colors_ before, right?"

Posted by: James at December 19, 2008 07:40 AM

Yep, it's easiest to hurl insults and other things at people who won't kick your ass for it.

Posted by: Mark Poling at December 19, 2008 09:42 AM

Isn't it a bit racist to assume that blacks are going to beat up gay protesters, but Mormons won't?

And by the way, anyone know of a good place to buy shoes online?

Is every generalization in re human beings racist or sexist? I'm still looking for a woman who can safely drive an automobile.

I am an AWESOME driver. And women are generally safer drivers than men, we get discounted rates from insurance companies because we cause less accidents.

Posted by: Karol at December 19, 2008 10:43 AM

It is religionist to assume no Mormons are black. And fightist to assume gays can't defend themselves. So many -isms these days might as well invent a few others...

"And women are generally safer drivers than men"

Hmmmm.... sounds like you haven't come across any of the dumb bitch mini-van drivers that are so prevalent in my corner of the Chicago suburbs.

The most dangerous time on the roads isn't at 2:00 AM with the drunks, it's 5:30 PM when the frantic "moms" are trying to get home in time to make that Mac-n-Cheese for dinner....

Ooof.

And yet the cops still pulled you over, Karol. My brother was breathalysed the other day, but passed. Good job, because his car service record was out of date (another offence in the UK).

So what?? I've been pulled over for offenses like not wearing a seatbelt while I was wearing a seatbelt.

I don't think sex necessarily plays as pivotal a role as other factors, e.g. age, reflexes, etc... Take my mother, who's an excellent driver, but who's been involved in numerous car accidents, almost all of them caused by assholes who don't know how to obey traffic laws. I think the requirements for obtaining a driver's license should be much tougher than those for getting a pistol permit.

Maybe this is just a generalization, but the Haredim seem to be some of the worst drivers on the road. Oleg was telling me about an accident he was involved in as a result of an encounter with an 'ultra'-Orthodox driver last year.

Posted by: Gerard at December 19, 2008 03:02 PM

Gerard, no one loves Jews more than me but the Hasidim in Brooklyn are the worst drivers of all time, anywhere. Friday afternoon is just about the third ring of hell.

Posted by: Karol at December 19, 2008 04:14 PM

LMAO, as an avid cyclist and motorcyclist, I ride everyday. The occasional male jackass has often risked my life by being aggressive. I can live with that. But the bimbos with the cellphones... they are the worst. I know bad male drivers, hell I may even qualify as one, but I don't know any good female drivers, and they all think they are.

You just have the look of someone who's trying to get away with something. Might be the hair.

As someone who was once cautioned to change my shirt while visiting a cousin because "that color's going to get you shot," I don't think I'm being a racist in positing that unfurling the rainbow flag might get one lit up like a target at a shooting range.

Your mileage on whether or not I'm a racist might vary. My give a f*ck needle regarding your assessment, however, will probably remain at zero.

Casca, you really need to get out more if you don't know any safe women drivers. To me plumbing is not a much a determinant as common freakin' sense and situational awareness.
