i mean really. you guys had a good long run there, but now it's time to give others a chance.
Posted by: nds at January 6, 2009 02:04 PMOur run wasn't that long or that good.
Posted by: Karol at January 6, 2009 02:33 PMYes, and muslims got a ticker-tape parade after 9/11.
Posted by: bryan at January 6, 2009 05:46 PMWe've been bending over backwards kissing their ass-with no wudhu-after they murdered three thousand of our citizens.
Do you know why you have to take off your shoes when you enter an airport now?
It's not because someone named "Adam Lipschitz" tried to immolate himself, along with every other passenger, on a transatlantic flight in mid-air.
We should not be forced to cower in fear before this barbaric, savage, ruthless, inhuman, obscurantist ideology...ever.
Posted by: Gerard at January 6, 2009 06:44 PMWell said, Gerard.
"Yes, and muslims got a ticker-tape parade after 9/11." Yeah, they actually did, didn't they, bryan? It wasn't in New York, of course. It was in places like Gaza, Damascus, Baghdad, Mecca, Riyadh, Amman, Jakarta & Tehran.
Posted by: Snoop-Diggity-DANG-Dawg at January 7, 2009 09:22 AMYes snoop, none of which are in Europe. If you think muslims didn't get targetted since 9/11 in Europe, you're dumber than a post. Same as when the IRA bombings in my town caused a lot of problems for my family (parents both Irish). I remember when the kids next door said I had killed Lord Mountbatten. Point is dumb assholes will use any excuses to attack people, places and organisations they probably already dislike in the first place.

I know that 9/11 and Al Qaeda were celebrated in Riyadh. My mon's friend, who was married to a Saudi. was teaching at a girl's school there.
She was very adapted to Saudi life - she wore the full abaya, she had no problem with Wahhabi Islam, but the constant Saudi celebrations of 9/11 angered and upset her so much that she had to leave the country. Little girls were cheering about the attacks.
Contrary to what most people think about Saudi men, her husband was ok with this and they both came back to America. Maybe he was disgusted by his own country too.

No, Saudi sponsored terrorism is causing unrest in India, Thailand, Tobago, the Sudan, Somalia, Europe, etc. "Solving" things around Israel would have no effect on terrorism worldwide.
Unless Israel was weakened or destroyed. Then terrorists would be empowered, and attacks would increase exponentially.
Saudis like to say that Israel is the source of all the world's problems, but they would say that, wouldn't they..?
Posted by: mary at January 8, 2009 08:23 PMyes Mary, because the Saudis use the Israeli troubles to recruit followers. Solve these troubles, and that means of recruitment goes away, no?
I remember that, after Desert Storm, it was revealed that Kuwait owned so many blue chip companies or had major stakes, that not deploying could've led to the Al-Sabah family causing an economic meltdown. The Al-Sabahs are small potatoes next to the Sauds. Point is, they don't need to pay bombers, they could just wreck the western economies and prosper as insularity sets in.
Solve these troubles, and that means of recruitment goes away, no?
No. The Saudis and other terror-supporters use Islamic zealotry, drugs, anti-Jewish zealotry, anti-Hindu zealotry, anti-buddhist zealotry, anti-American zealtory, anti-non-believer zealotry, the promise of being a neighborhood hero and even money to recruit followers.
When the western economies fail, the Saudi economy fails. What's the price of oil lately? According to some in the business, Saudi Arabia, the UAE and all the oil ticks are in trouble when the price goes below 60 dollars a barrel.
Posted by: mary at January 8, 2009 11:42 PMSo then they cut production again.
Those other recruitment tactics are weak compared to "look at Palestine!", and the anti-USA drive stems from their apparent support for a non-solution to this problem.
So then they cut production again
They tried that and oil prices fell. They're still too low, and demand is falling, even with the war in Gaza, and even with Russia's current extortion attempts.
When times were good, the best-performing economy in the Arab world, the UAE, had a GDP that barely surpassed Portugal's. The Saudis buy influence by bribing influential people (like the Jaguar Prince Bandar bought Colin Powell & the library the Saudis bought Clinton), but on a national level, they're nothing. They can't cause an economic meltdown, and they wouldn't want to, because they'll be dragged down with us.
Those other recruitment tactics are weak compared to "look at Palestine!", and the anti-USA drive stems from their apparent support for a non-solution to this problem.
No they're not. More Hindus than Jews have died from Saudi-sponsored terrorism. The death count from terrorism in Thailand was second only to deaths in Iraq during the worst of the AQI terrorism there. During the Chechen 'rebellion', killing Russians was a major recruiting tool for al Qaeda-type groups. The Taliban in Afghanistan targeted Buddhists as well as local Muslims.
But terrorism's death count is probably largest for Muslims. As the Arabs say, "I against my brother; my brother and I against my cousin; I, my brother, and my cousin against the stranger". If the 'stranger' disappeared, they'd go after the cousin.
We're talking about tribal wars and a region motivated by hatred and ethnic cleansing. It's all fueled by petrodollars and the hope that this tribal culture can dominate the world. If Israel disappeared tomorrow, these wars would still go on.
However, Arabs are willing to admit that petrodollars are their lifeblood. If the petrodollars disappeared, their hope might disappear too...
