Me and Obie down by the schoolyard
This is so awesome! I agree with Obama! Responding to a question as to whether he's a Socialist, Obama took offense and blamed Bush:
“It wasn’t under me that we started buying a bunch of shares of banks,” Mr. Obama said. “And it wasn’t on my watch that we passed a massive new entitlement, the prescription drug plan, without a source of funding.”
Yes! Yes! Buying a bunch of shares of banks was idiotic and the prescription drug plan was ridiculous! Two horrible, terrible legacies of the Bush administration. I'm so glad we agree! So, clearly, clearly, if he thinks we don't have the money to pay for the prescription drug plan it should go without saying that WE DON'T HAVE THE MONEY TO SOCIALIZE HEALTHCARE. Right? Obama? Hello?
(The one positive thing about this is that even Obama knows that socialism is a bad word.)

"And it wasn’t on my watch"
Uh, did he or did he not vote for the bailout? You know, from his position as Senator from Illinois?
Or did he merely vote "present"?
And since when did having no "source of funding" prevent him from more than tripling GWB's largest deficit? Or is it "a source of funding" to have the Federal Reserve print up trillions of new dollars?
Posted by: Perry Eidelbus at March 9, 2009 07:55 PMI think the key clause you're ignoring here is "... without a source of revenue", as in he would have done the same thing and massively raised taxes to fund it.
Posted by: Eric at March 9, 2009 08:09 PMMy favorite part of that story is that the NYT finished the interview after trying to get Obama to admit he's a Socialist.
After the whole thing was over (and presumably after someone told him what to say), he CALLED BACK to blame Bush.
Classic.
Posted by: jana at March 9, 2009 10:15 PMDon't listen to O'Dumbo's words (he lies like a wet carpet), watch his actions, killing babies by the millions is his goal so he's not a socialist, there is only one, well two groups in the world that condone such things. Islamist and American hating democrats. O'Dumbo is proving by his actions that he is truly a radical Islamist. Soon a lot of people will be saying 'told you so' on the way to their beheading.
Posted by: Scrapiron at March 9, 2009 10:34 PMObama isn't much of an islamist: I saw him drinking beer in a picture last week. Again, lumping dems with terrorists is a surefire way to make your side look rabid. You may have the most excellent and correct opinion, but that garnish will mean the rest torns to ashes in the ears of potential voters. The other side being awful doesn't automatically make your side the best choice. Talk up your own good points.
Posted by: bryan at March 10, 2009 09:07 AMI'm late in getting back here, but Eric:
There's no way in hell that Obama can raise taxes enough to pay for all his spending. So the U.S. government will just borrow the rest, right? The problem is that there's no way in hell that existing money supplies can cover it.
The Federal Reserve will be creating many trillions more dollars (meaning it already has been) for the Treasury to borrow. This is already causing inflation, and it will only get worse. Think 1970s stagflation with high unemployment and rising prices. You just haven't seen the inflation side because gas prices came down, offsetting other things in the "consumer price index."
And bryan: the 9/11 attackers were drinking at strip clubs the night before. Jihadism isn't about moral purity, but the desire to bring destruction upon the West.
