When the phone rings at 2am...

...Obama will be up to answer it:

Sources close to the White House say Mr Obama and his staff have been “overwhelmed” by the economic meltdown and have voiced concerns that the new president is not getting enough rest.

...

Allies of Mr Obama say his weary appearance in the Oval Office with Mr Brown illustrates the strain he is now under, and the president’s surprise at the sheer volume of business that crosses his desk.

A well-connected Washington figure, who is close to members of Mr Obama’s inner circle, expressed concern that Mr Obama had failed so far to “even fake an interest in foreign policy”. …

The American source said: “Obama is overwhelmed. There is a zero sum tension between his ability to attend to the economic issues and his ability to be a proactive sculptor of the national security agenda.

I guess we'll save lowering the oceans for next year, then.

C'mon now, Hillary's got it covered!

Seriously, who was in charge when this meltdown started? And how clued up was he? i like the post, but it seems the previous 8 years were from some other party, not the one you support.
The reality seems to be that the voters and the polls decided that a crappy Obama in charge was preferable than your lot. Your ideas have been rejected by same, and the power to make change has shifted to these other guys. How bad were your guys if they chose the guys who are poor at governing? Talking about these questions and about how you could have done it better will get you back into office a lot sooner than yukking it up over Obama's failings. Sorry if this reality check seems like I'm trolling, think of it as 'tough love'.

Your ideas have been rejected by same

You know, I wish Bush ideas were rejected by same. Unfortunately, we're propping up banks and spending money in the exact same ways that Bush did. Basically, Obama has been a third Bush term. Except much more expensive.

Oh, and I plan to yuk it up for four years. We chose the guy that told us he would lower the oceans. We deserve what we get.

Who knew that actual executive experience and a knowledge of national security policy would be pre-requisites for the job? I say, let him run with it. I'm stocking up on canned goods, bottled water, ammo, and I've just bought a 100 gallon reservoir that fits in my bathtub to hold drinking water. Workers of the world unite.

I know, right. And that meaningless slogans have no role in the presidency. Crazy!

Karol, if you (collectively) don't fix the things in your party that lost you votes, you'll end up with another 4 years of yukking, no?

Oh, please. The Republican party isn’t dead, it’s just out of power. Anyone remember the last ten years of democrat/Howard Dean/John Kerry fecklessness? Jesus Christ, talk about lost in the sauce.

But being feckless & out of power is status quo for dems, so when they actually win something, it’s suddenly “the end of everyone else”. The dems now have enough rope to hang themselves 50 times over, and I’m sure they won’t disappoint.

It’s actually good for republicans to be ‘headless’ right now. These are the conditions that allow new voices to be heard, take the reigns and rise to the top.
