The bullshit in Cairo

I'm willing to suspend some reality when dealing with Barack Obama, I mean we kind of have to as he is clearly in lalaland, but in what universe does Islam hold the principles of justice, progress, tolerance or dignity of all human beings?

“I have come here to seek a new beginning between the United States and Muslims around the world,” he said. “One based upon mutual interest and mutual respect; and one based upon the truth that America and Islam are not exclusive, and need not be in competition. Instead, they overlap, and share common principles – principles of justice and progress; tolerance and the dignity of all human beings.:”

I know, I know, blah blah, Bush did it too, kept telling us how Islam is a religion of peace and I'm so glad Obama is trying to be just like Bush in his leadership. But this is just ridiculous. Who is buying this?

I'm not saying Islam is inherently bad. But what Muslim country espouses the values that Obama mentions? Where is this justice? Tolerance, are you kidding? And when we talk about Islam and the dignity of all human beings, aren't we leaving out women and Jews, both of whom are treated with no respect and not considered equals to the Muslim man?

Obama has decided that unlike during his campaign, when any mention of his Muslim background was considered dirty and underhanded, he'll now talk about all the Muslim influence in his life:

“I am a Christian, but my father came from a Kenyan family that includes generations of Muslims,” he said. “As a boy, I spent several years in Indonesia and heard the call of the azaan at the break of dawn and the fall of dusk. As a young man, I worked in Chicago communities where many found dignity and peace in their Muslim faith.”

I think back to 2001, it's hard not to, and the thought that just 8 years later our president would be kissing the collective asses of the Muslim world while telling them how the Muslim faith has shaped him, is something none of us would have ever believed. We wouldn't have believed that an American president would be equating the holocaust to the situation of the Palestinians today while speaking in Egypt and skipping a visit to our only actual ally, and only country that also shares our values in the area, Israel.

We're in a bad place, America, where few blink at any of this. Our president is a sucker. It's a sad state of affairs.
