What the Brits call "pissing in your own tea"

Why would terrorists try to kill Jimmy Carter? He's like their best friend!

Is this what the Brits call "blogging"?

Posted by: NDS at June 16, 2009 02:34 PM

Yeah, suddenly al-Qaida can't figure out how to set off a roadside bomb. It's a perishable (PI)skill, you know...

They weren't trying to kill him. I suspect this was a ham-fisted attempt to garner good pub. from the credulous dupes at the Crescent News Network.

Then again, Palestinians are the orcs of the Moslem world. And Moslems are the orcs of humanity, so that should tell you something. It's entirely possible that some faction of these bloodthirsty savages really did try to blow up Mr. Peanut.

I've not heard that saying, but I have heard 'pissing on your chips', and there was always the 'pissing in your boots', but that was a good thing, because it helped make your army boots soften up a bit.

*bryan, and that side note contribute something to the topic of the post?

Silly brits, always think their snotty pseudo-erudite remarks excuse them from serious arguments. No, wrong: they think these remarks are sign of superiority.
Ha.

Tatyana, I don't understand your first sentence; it seems not to be english as I understand it.
I have no opinion to offer about the subject at hand. If I did, it would probably be met with a chorus of "what's it got to do with you, limey?", and the irony is that you yourself have usually been quite happy to join this chorus. I therefore cannot win. Poor me!

Tatyana,

Well played.

I think you caught bryan pissing on his prayer rug !

bryan has never shied away from expressing an opinion from over there in welfare-state Europe, yet since this happens to be a situation where Palestinian terrorists have been blatantly caught with their hands in the do-it-yourself bomb-making jar, he all of a sudden claims he fears making a comment because he doesn't want to be called on it.

...which sure sounds to me like an admission that he wasn't planning on condemning the terrorist plot.

What a big surprise that bryan won't condemn Jihadist terrorism, huh ?!

Is that the best retort your chinese commie masters could come up with? Has anyone else felt the need to be all condemning on this thread. You should complain to your unit leader about your latest indoctrination teacher. He has obviously tainted your purity.
PS, I work for the National Health Service. I don't care if you don't like it. I'm sure there's stuff about Mao that you love that I'm not bothered with. I'm reeeealleeee sad we can't be BFFs :-( Saalaam alekum comrade.

Thanks for confirmation, *bryan. I couldn't have constructed a better non-argument.

Posted by: Tatyana at June 18, 2009 03:16 PM

Tatyana, you can do one also. What, apart from moaning about me, has been your contribution to this thread?
Typical ex-Russian, always generalising!

*bryan, the proper adage is:

"I told you a thousand times: do not exaggerate!"

I'm not shy; if I had a disagreement with the post, I'd voice it. And since I agree with Karol, there is nothing I can add. Another adage for you - silence is golden. Apparently, you're sitting on needles if didn't attempt to say something, anything. No matter how tangential to the topic. Reading your "answer" to Walrus I started to question if it's more than a case of verbal typing diarrhea on your part. Something might be seriously shaken in that bucket you call your head.

Btw - I've never been Russian. My native language is Russian, but it's not necessarily the same thing. I'm sure you, with your overwhelming erudition, can figure this out.

*bryan, the proper adage is:

"I told you a thousand times: do not exaggerate!"

NO it's not. It's a million times, and my version is a perfectly fine (and well used) variation on the same theme. Maybe you should think about the what is golden too, and that saying had another half to it "Speech is silver".
Also, you agree. Fine, so why am I required to deplore what everyone knows is deplorable by my old china? And not you?

Posted by: bryan at June 19, 2009 03:18 AM

No,*bryan, it's not "a million times". I know, because my grandma invented the saying - and "a thousand" is what it is. The only silver in your speech is a spoon that needs to be shove in your mouth to prevent further blabbering.

I didn't agree with anything, *bryan. And your last sentence is written by a spam generator.

Posted by: Tatyana at June 19, 2009 08:55 AM

"And since I agree with Karol, there is nothing I can add." This is a quote from above. Perhaps you should read back before claiming not to have agreed with anything. I'm expected to condemn something, but your saying nothing means you already condemn it.
As to your granny inventing this phrase; you are either one of the funniest people I've happened across, or the most deluded. Look up the million times phrase.

Nag-nag-nag-nag-nag.
Boy, and they say its women who are annoying.

*bryan,
-your original comment was irrelevant to the topic of this post, which decidedly was NOT "Funny English idioms and proverbs".
-if I have no disagreement with a post or have nothing of interest to add to a discussion, I very rarely say anything. If I'm silent, it's not a sign of "saying nothing means I already condemn it". It's the opposite. Nitpicking on a random phrase from the post regardless of the content is a sign of not paying attention to the content - and it's quite annoying to the author. I know, I've suffered commenters like you at my own place.

I hope this clarifies things sufficiently for you to spare us further sulking and complaining. Have a good Sunday.

Shorter Tatyana; 'I don't want to admit I was wrong so....HEY! Look over there! (Nailed it!)'.
