*Shocking* behavior!

In case you haven't heard, some woman somewhere put a Hitler mustache on Obama's picture and carried it around on an "Impeach" sign.

I know, I know, society as we know it is clearly over.

Putting aside that THE WOMAN IS A LAROUCHE DEMOCRAT, it is completely unacceptable to call the president Hitler. And we should really remember the Bush years and how regular, run of the mill liberals simply voiced their patriotic dissent, and never stooped to such vulgar characterizations.

Let's pause and reflect on their maturity and restraint over those 8 years.

We need your HELP, and hope you encourage your colleagues to report on this as well. We are starting to see people bring loaded weapons to meeting where the President is attending. This has never been allowed to happen with any previous Presidents, and should not be allowed to start now. The right to bear arms is one thing, but when it threatens the security of our President, there is no right greater than his right to be protected. No matter how you look at this, it is a threat directly and indirectly to the President safety and should be outlawed. If someone show-up carrying either a loaded or unloaded weapon at a Presidential event, it should be made to be a felony, with the hopes of protecting the President, and discouraging this senseless and irresponsible behavior? If the President was on a foreign trip and one of their citizens brought a loaded fire weapon to where the President was attending, claiming that it was their right, we would be outraged. Obama is this Nation first Black President, and if for some unfortunate reason he gets shot it will most certainly start a race riot, and this is something that we don’t need and will scar this Country forever. There might be many that will love for this to happen, but as you well know it will destroy the Country. So please report on this and encourage your colleagues to express their disgust with this crazy behavior, Please, Please help stop this madness. Our Secret service is already under enormous strain protecting the President against countless other threats, from bombs to just about everything else that can be imagined. So imagine for a second having fifty people or more showing up at a Presidential event packing loaded weapons, this is a disaster waiting to happen! We have White Supremacist and other questionable groups and individuals lurking out there, this is something that should be taken quite serious. The People of this Country have always relied on the media to be the voice of average citizens, when their voice has other wise gone unheard. If there were ever a time for the News Media to intervene, I think that this should most definitely be that time? No matter how you try to dice this up or color it, there can never be any rationale to justify putting our President safety at risk, PLAIN AND SIMPLE!

Oh, shut up Help Me! The person carrying the rifle and handgun was a black man - hardly a white supremacist.

"So please report on this" - gee, at least they are still asking nicely.
In Stalin times (and then later, during Nazi occupation) snitching was elevated to the Patriotic Duty and the ones non-complying were sentenced on par with the "perpetrators" were not snitching on.

I guess, that's coming next.

Did you react that way to "if you see something, say something," Tatyana?

Posted by: Charles at August 20, 2009 10:57 AM

"Help me," shut the fuck up.

"This has never been allowed to happen with any previous Presidents,"

Incorrect. Anytime Bush was in Arizona (I presume he visited there at least once), someone could have openly carried firearms outside. It's inside that the Secret Service is worried about.

Now think about it, you moronic dumbfuck troll: do you really think someone would be openly carrying a rifle in public if he wanted to assassinate anyone?

Good lord, you have no brains at all. Go get some help before trying to engage adults in conversation.

Perry, you have no aesthetic appreciation. Can't you just enjoy the style of this epistle? The whininess, the hysteria, the righteous moral posturing - no, that's really delectable, don't you think?

Let along the little pearls: the calls for snitching and "reporting", the underlying racism, the cowardice, the demagogical Capital Letter-patriotism...

The right to bear arms is one thing, but when it threatens the security of our President, there is no right greater than his right to be protected.

"Help me", where were you when the Black Panthers were brandishing guns at political rallies?

From a News Busters article titled "Media Barely Noticed Legal Gun-brandishing By Leftist Black Panthers in 2000 Protest"

...media reaction was markedly different nine years ago when a group of Black Panthers marched on the Texas Republican Party’s state convention on June 2000 brandishing AK-47s. Indeed, that incident itself was chalked up as then-Gov. Bush’s fault by none other than then-MSNBC "Equal Time" co-host Paul Begala.

A search of Nexis and the Media Research Center’s News Tracking System found no stories on that evening’s broadcast network newscasts about the Black Panthers brandishing “assault weapons” to protest then-presumptive GOP presidential nominee – and Secret Service protectee – Gov. George W. Bush’s refusal to intervene in the pending execution of convicted murderer Gary Graham.

The June 16, 2000 “Fox Report” noted the incident, featuring an on-scene report from reporter Mike Rosen of Fox News Austin, Texas, affiliate KTBC.

Three days later, the June 19, 2000 “Nightline” was devoted to the Black Panther protests of Graham’s innocence, a review of the Nexis transcript shows at no point did reporter Mike Von Fremd mention the Panthers brandishing weapons at the June 16 protest in Houston.

Another curiosity from my Nexis search, is how rabid left-wing pundit Paul Begala on the June 16 “Equal Time” on MSNBC blamed the legality of the Black Panther demonstration on protest target Gov. George W. Bush, all while forecasting that Bush’s conservative stances on the Second Amendment and the death penalty would hurt him and benefit Al Gore

The people who brandish weapons at political gatherings are attempting to intimidate anyone who doesn't agree with them, but there's a difference between dangerous a*holes and ordinary a*holes. People who carry guns to political gatherings probably fall into the ordinary category.

I object to their attempt to intimidate dissent, and if I happen to bump into anyone who is doing this, I will walk right up to them and tell them so. If enough people did this, it would probably discourage this bully behavior.

No laws need to be changed. If we went around making irrelevant and unnecessary laws every time someone acted like an a*hole, our legal and political system would be lunacy.

Hmmm....

Apples and oranges, Charles, apples and oranges.

Posted by: Tatyana at August 20, 2009 12:10 PM

They did it too isn't really a good excuse.

Posted by: Cal Ulmann at August 20, 2009 10:04 PM

It's not an "excuse". I happen to think no one should be compared to Hitler as it dimishes the evil of the original Hitler. But spare me the liberal outrage. Welcome to the last 8 years.

"The right to bear arms is one thing, but when it threatens the security of our President, there is no right greater than his right to be protected."

Thanks for pointing that out, Mary. I had missed it.

This perfectly shows the left's idiocy when it comes to defining "rights." They believe that rights can supercede, trample and infringe upon each other. In fact, rights cannot. Criminal actions and privileges granted by government are what infringe on rights, not other rights. To paraphrase how Jefferson put it, we all have our equal rights whose limits are only the equal rights of others.
